Just had to tell you about my latest accomplishment -- I came in first in my age group at the Ohio Masters' Swim meet this weekend. OK, first out of 2, but it was really fun. My time for a mile was 34:22 -- respectable, I thought, but I wasn't expecting to win anything and was really surprised when my name was called. There were enough awards that probably half the people who participated won something.

If any of you are swimmers who are not involved with Masters' Swim, I highly recommend checking it out. The people are nice, the meets are very low-key and participation-oriented, and you can have a really good time.

Swimmer Bill would be proud of me talking up masters.

I like swimming in open water better than the pool. I am not good at turns and there are also a lot of other technical things at a pool race when I just want to swim!

I was. It was a little slower than other times I've had for the mile, but it was in Lake Erie instead of a pond, so I'll take it. Smiler
