I'm going skiing with my mom for a couple days.

We are going to one of the smallest resorts in CA and with only 800 vertical feet, but it is the first time I'm going skiing since March when I dislocated my knee cap, and I'm a little nervous.

Wish me luck. Smiler

Glad to hear you had a good time, good weather and no pain, Denise!

Rest of Summer Goals:
1. Exercise-Cardio: Min. 2-3 walking or DVD cardio workouts per week.
2. Exercise-Weights/Toning: Min. 1 weight plus 1 toning workout per week.
3. Food: Get those veggie servings back up to where they were!
4. Behavior: Start reducing sweets now that the automatic after-meal response is better.

Glad to hear that your knee held up well Denise!

Sounds like it was a great time!

Hume Lake
Located in the Sequoia National Forest at an elevation of 5,200 feet, Hume Lake is an 85-acre man-made lake. A great place to camp, hike and fish, it is a nice paddling destination because motor boats are not allowed.(559) 338-2251.

We stayed at Yosemite West, about 6,000 and there was a lot of snow... maybe 2-3 feet. I had to put chains on the car. Smiler

Up at Badger Pass (7000-8000 ft) there was 5-6 feet of snow.

I think they went to Sierra Summit back when it was China Peak but not very often. Smiler

They like to go to Yosemite as it is pretty close and not croweded and they can ski for free (65+). Mt Rose just upped their senior age to 75 (or 80? Eeker). I heard my mom saying that she might be able to get a better deal at North Star. Big Grin

I'll have to pass the information along to some local skiing friends. Badger has always been cheaper than Sierra Summit and other places. Does your mom ever go to SS? Or does she pretty much stick with Tahoe/Mt. Rose and Badger?

Hey, what is the elevation of Badger? Rebekah is going to winter camp up at Hume Lake this weekend, and while I know that Badger is quite a ways away from Hume, I was wondering what the snow level is. I do need to call Hume, but it is so hard to get through to them that I thought I'd ask you Smiler

Not this trip. I'm back home. Smiler

My knee did great and it would seem that my legs are better than ever, but I took it easy and didn't push it. But nothing hurt... so that was really nice!

I had a great visit with mom and step dad.

I've had that song Nelson was singing stuck in my head on and off every since you posted this. Smiler The scary thing is 20+ years after listening to the Statler Bros back and forth on fishing trips with my parents (on 8 track tape) I still remember A LOT of the words to that song! LOL

Denise-
I hope you have a great time, I used to ski, not well, but still skied but it is so much fun.
And, you say ONLY 800 vertical feet-I'm lucky if I can ski down a small snow mound!

Have a GREAT time! It will understandably be a little weird because you'll be thinking about the injury, but just concentrate on enjoying yourself doing something you love to do!
