For giggles, go out and buy a small bag of M&M's. Now go to the local HS football field, stand on the end line....eat one M&M...start walking, when you get to the opposite end line, turn and face the end line where you started, you just walked off that M&M's calories. A small bag like that has 53 -55 M&M's in it, ready to eat the whole thing and start walking again?
A Dorito....you'd have to walk the football field 5 times to wear off the calories.
A snickers bar.....plan on spending the day.
A Big Mac, ff and a chocolate shake, well plan on a week or so of walking.
Kinda puts things in perspective doesn't it.
It's never too late to get it right.

Were you in my WW meeting on Saturday? I swear what you wrote was word for word from my leader ... maybe they all did it
But yes i do need to consider that fact prior actually eating the chocolate, though once my mind is truly made up, sadly, I doubt even that would deter me ...

I have also heard that the amount of time spent watching television is directly related to being overweight.
I can see that, although, I don't watch a lot of TV. I do read a lot though, which is still a lot of sitting around time.

OK, time for me to get back to my research, but I had to check in and see what everyone was talking about.

A cup of sugar free Jell-O with Cool Whip (24 cals)? I'd have to walk 10 mins. or 10 times across the field.
A sugar free Eskimo Pie (113 cals)? I'd have to walk 45 mins.
(According to Fitday.com)
Those desserts are totally not worth the amount of work I'd have to do to burn them off, IMO!!!
EDIT: PS And I'd gladly sit and pedle a stationary bike for 50 mins to burn off a package of peanut M&M's (but NOT every day!!!) Most of the time I have to exercise just to stay where I am... never mind burning off extra desserts or candy.

I don't think it's a matter of what we can and can't eat...I think it's a matter of portion control, and if you eat the WHOLE bag of M&M's as I am sure I am not the only x-M&M junkie here, you have to do a lot of walking or exercising to wear it off, or you wear the pounds that you put on.
For heaven's sake, if you want to have the whole fried chicken sandwich, or the bag of M&M's or cinnabons, or whatever, that's up to you....it was just very interesting to me that most of us don't think about the amount of movement we have to do to use up those calories.
As for me, I treat myself every so often, and do the exercise to wear off the calories, we do all need a treat now and again...but not the whole bag every day.
