It's garden planning time! What are you all planning to grow in your garden this year?
I started seeds for lavender, basil, parsley, sugar snap peas, green beans, wax beans, okra, chili peppers, banana peppers, bell peppers, marigolds, kale, chard, and two types of lettuce yesterday. I still have to start the tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, meolns, and zucchini.

I would dearly love to have tomatoes on my patio via container gardening. Unfortunately, I've heard through the grapevine that most folks in my apartment complex who have tried to do that over the years I've lived there have their tomatoes stolen right when they're ready to be picked so you end up doing a lot of work and not getting any benefit.
Having my newly ripe tomatoes stolen would irritate me so badly that I've never tried--esp. since my patio is much more out in the open (I'm in a corner unit) than most people's, so my tomatoes would definitely be on display for everyone.
Personal Healthy Habits Challenge - 10/1 to 12/31/08: 1. Exercise: Get back to consistently working out 3-5 X week. 2. Food: Get back to consistently preparing healthy lunches for the week with increased veg servings. 3. Behavior: Reduce intake of sweets.

My son is begging for blueberries this year. We planted two bushes two years ago, but they haven't done much more than barely survive, so I don't think they're getting enough sun. But this winter we lost a wisteria tree (the pipe holding it up rusted through), so I might pull it up completely and try planting some blueberries there.

Alli, This is the 4th year on these bushes, so don't give up hope yet. We said just the other day "Great, we finally had them long enough to produce and now we're moving."

We are starting completely from scratch this year as we're in a new house with zero landscaping. We are tackling planting all the front beds ourselves and then hopefully I'll get a small herb garden growing if we can keep the deer away from it. I'm hoping for thyme, rosemary, chives, and basil and a tomato plant would be nice too : )
