I did not enjoy our Mother's Day tea but not for the resons I expected.
Daddy fell and banged himself up. We had gone to my sister's bil's house for "afternoon tea in the garden". Spouses were invited so all the husbands were there. The house is definately NOT handicapped friendly. It is up on the side of a hill and the stairs are steep but I don't think daddy even got to the steps.
I looked over my shoulder and he was lying on his side in the street right next to the curb (as if he were cuddled up to it to sleep) and not moving. My friend's husband ran back to him, I stayed with mother on the steps (to keep her from trying to move alone) and Dena ran on inside to get help.
The side of his head and his elbows were bloody so my sister and her husband took him to Piedmont ER (which was close by) and had him checked out (they did a CAT scan) but he appears to just be scratched up and sore. Nobody knows what happened, not even him. He says he doesn't remember falling.
Yesterday he said what hurts the most is his inner thighs and hip area.

Sounds like there is steady improvement anyway. Hopefully he'll be his old self soon.

The right side of his face looks like he has been beaten up but it seems to be healing ok. The steri-strips they put on it at the hospital are slowly releasing and coming off. His elbows still have scabs.
He was have pains in his right hip when he walked but it is better, he thinks it was a pinched nerve, but he has some discomfort across his chest when he walks. He has only been downstairs once to pay bills (and I went with him). He spends a lot more time in bed than he did before but that may just be so that he doesn't have to sit at the dining room table with mother all day. He sits there and watches movies and sports after she goes to bed for her daily naps. She does not like sports.
I took him to the grocery store last week and he walked around the store but he skipped a luncheon he usually goes to and he did not try to go to church sunday. I think he just doesn't want people to see what he looks like Wink.
Until now I have not been worried about his mind (like I do mother's) but lately he is having trouble keeping up with his bills and his bank account so now I am helping with that.

He had a small stroke back in 1998 and has balance problems. I really should have been at the end of the line, not in the middle.
I have been to this house a couple of times. The last time was a year ago when the house was on a Garden Tour and I had forgotten aboout the steps being so bad. By bad, I don't mean in bad condition, they are very sturdy and safe but just not very "senior friendly".

He seems to be getting better, lots of bruises and the scrapes are healing nicely but his right hip and leg are still bothering him. He can't go downstairs to his "domain" and there is no place upstairs we can move his recliner, desk and tv.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad Judy. Is it possible that he had a mini TIA?

Out of our beliefs are born deeds; out of our deeds we form habits; out of our habits grows our character; and on our character we build our destiny.

That's horrible. I hope you get some answers soon!
