In my humble opinion, seeing a new one each day is a gentle reminder that there's always something else we can work towards and aspire to.
Sometimes, when we're caught up in our busy lives, we get off track. Homework assignments can be used as a tool to focus you and realign you when you need it. And you don't necessarily have to participate to get back on track. For me, the very act of reading the homework assignments, whether I participate in them or not, reminds me that slacking isn't such a good idea. I'm lazy by nature
Reading the repsonses of those who partipate in the homework assignment of the day is inspiring and motivating. And sometimes all it takes to get me back on the right path or in the mood to work harder to reach my next goal.
I'm no super woman either. I can't keep up with them daily. But I think they're a wonderful tool. I'd like to hear how the homework captains feel once they've designed and developed a homework assignment. My hope is that you found the position to be challenging in a good way. That you learn a lot, that you're able to work through some of your struggles and that you feel a sense of accomplishment, pride and satisfaction by giving of yourself. And that you feel appreciated by the forum.
The point of volunteering to be a captain is to utilize the opportunity to work through some of your own tough stuff. For instance, if you have trouble with after supper snacking, turn that into a homework assignment. Something like: We all know that ice-cream, candy bars and 5 chocolate chip cookies in one sitting aren't the best choices for after dinner snacking but a lot of us really feel the need to eat late night. What are some good, better, best choices? Extra credit: If anyone has succeeded at curbing after supper snacking, share your story.
Assignments should be thought provoking and aimed at encouraging safe and healthy progress. They don't have to be tough, they can be silly. For example: Do one of the following today: blow bubbles with a child, hoola hoop for five minutes or jump rope to your mailbox and back. Play is as important to good health as exercise, good eating and rest. Extra credit: If you know of another super fun way to blow off some steam and laugh like a little kid in the process, post it here.
All this said, this site is for and about you. Period. End of story. You have my full support always Vote on the number of days you want assingments, let's get the May Captains sorted out (thank you for getting that ball rolling) and let's rock!
Life is like a roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs, but the curves, spirals, loops and corkscrews are what make life interesting.
