Of bad journalism, or misleading headlines...

This flat out says to skip the sushi, because of high mercury levels. Although, if you read the article, only tuna may pose a threat. Why can't the headline say "Skip the tuna sushi"?

I didn't think you were mad at me. And it IS frustrating, and that was part of my point of posting this. I think that so many people are confused because headlines, sound-bites and the attention grabbing leads lead people to think one thing, but if you REALLY read the article it says something completely different. The problem is that many if not most people don't read the whole story, or enough of it to really understand what is going on.

I understand that the headlines are supposed to grab your attention, but I don't think it has to be done in misleading way.

Part of the draw to a headline is to grab the person's attention to read the article. Granted alot of the time it can be misleading..

All this nutrition info just confuses me. Last night they had an article on the news telling people they needed to eat more fish, even pregnant women, because the mecury content isn't as bad as it seems and in general the population seems to be cutting out fish of their diet, which isn't good because the loss of benefits from omega-3s. Just one more item about pregnant women, they did say there were a few species to definitely avoid like shark and swordfish....and some other breed.

One study says you can't and another says you can and vice versa...sometimes it's just maddening. Mad

And like I try to practice everything in moderation... there are alot of other pollutants out there that we breathe in everyday that can impact our health and all that.

And some of the tuna samples were perfectly safe to eat. Only a couple samples were not safe.

Eat tuna in moderation...yes, but what a boring headline!

Thanks Denise...I think that Dr. Corbett (Bless his soul) would be proud to know that I did learn SOMETHING in those 2 sememsters of Research Methodology.
