We have Aldi's here in Wisconsin now. At first I wouldn't go - .... but now I get my chicken broth, canned fruits, oatmeal and frozen asparagus, shrimp and frozen fruits there. Now I make an Aldi's list ~ some things are comparible to Walmart so I will get those things at Walmart. I make a food cost list ~ so generally know where to find what I need - the cheapest.

For basic veggies and fruits, I think Aldi's is cheaper than any of the grocery stores around me. That's what I usually get there. They won't have Romaine, but if I want mushrooms, bell peppers, or cukes - they're the place to go.

I know that Steph used to find some good deals at the Aldi in Marietta. So did my friend Leslie. Aldi was also very popular when I lived in France. It really wasn't on my radar, so I've never really gone there. Dawn

They have a lot of things like cereal, rice, canned products but also offer produce, dairy, and meat products. They have frozen foods as well. I wouldn't be able to plan my whole grocery list and shop at Aldi. You can get some really good prices but they are limited on brands and also on product variety. I've gotten some canned items pretty cheap and I actually bought some chicken breasts that were really good and inexpensive. I remember them having a lot of spices too. I don't ever specifically plan to go to Aldi. If I happen to be near there and know I just need a couple quick things it is usually less than our big grocery store. It might be worth a trip over there once it is built, Judy, to see if you like it. Jill
I have no specific goal(s) right now. I am trying to find the spiritual side of myself that I lost somewhere along the way.

They are a Germany Company. Actually, I went for the first time last week...I was very disappointed, especially after seeing the ads for years in the mail. All the product they carry is there own label. I was not impressed. I found the prices of some of there items, comp to walmart.

We have one in our town and my impression is that they have a very limited selection but it's less expensive. Ours also has a lot of processed foods that we don't usually eat. I do have friends though that go once/week as the types of foods they carry change very frequently.

Yes, Aldi is the parent company of TJ's. Unfortunately this new one is not within walking distance. Now if I could walk straight there thru other peoples yards it would probably be less than a quarter of a mile.

We have an Aldi. I have been in it many times, but recently I have not gone as it is a bit out of my way and I find that the prices at our megamart are almost as good.
But, if it was in walking distance, I would likely go in for stuff like this:
oats sugars conventional dairy- milk, cheese some fruits and veggies- they have looked and tasted pretty good in the past.
*They seem to have lots of processed food- canned soup, crackers, frozen stuff. I have not tried it.
BTW, isn't TJ's owned by Aldi? I am quite sure they are connected.
