September Challenge: Day Seven

When I was growing up, back when school didn't start till after Labor Day, the Tuesday after the holiday was a strange sort of limbo day. The pool had closed, and most other summer activities had ended. However, school didn't start till Wednesday. So we were faced with a whole day of not-quite-summer, not-quite-school-year. I usually spent it dreading the first day of school.

In my new adult reality, DS will be starting his third full week of school today (assuming he feels better when he wakes up). The pool will stay open into October, and temperatures may well continue to soar for several more weeks. No limbo any more. But I do want to take today to recommit to the September Challenge. I haven't done well so far, allowing the littlest things to derail me. I need to review my plans and strategies, then execute them faithfully so I can achieve my goals.

How are you doing at the end of the first week of the challenge?

i did well. the extra yogurt did tie my over, so that was great. after dropping off dd to her tutor, i did some free weights in front of the TV. this made my wednesday morning better, so i could sleep in a little, workout less.

just had breakfast--and back to feeling "hungry" ---this is annoying!!!

Doing well with the lunchtime part of my goal but not doing well with consistently getting my dinner eaten in the 6-6:30 range.

Good day here- especially considering the fact that I taught all day. I did eat a slice of applesauce cake (low fat, no icing, but still...) in addition to my planned food. My calories were still pretty good and I felt completely satisfied.

Mediocre day here. Had popcorn instead of fruit at snack.

For my exercise today I walked 2 miles (my ankle was hurting even with the walk), I mowed and then did 45 minutes of light cardio in the basement.

Here's to a better day tomorrow.

Getting back on schedule is a bit harder than I expected. I am still itching to snack even though I know I'm not hungry. Thankfully, I did get up and get in a good workout (boy am I glad tomorrow's not a running day) before heading to work.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all planned, and all carefully set to follow my normal food plan, so I'm good there. Resisting the urge to not want to snack is going to be the challenge today. At least until I get home from work, I have no extra food other than what I packed, so that will help some. Once I get home it'll be a different story.

i have been doing ok. on friday, i was awake for al most 24 hours. i finally got to bed saturday early morning, and slept until 10:30am. then it was gym, and making a birthday cake. before i had to rest for an hour, and work again overnight. back to bed sunday at 3:15am, woke up at 10:30am, off to gym for an hour. i was in bed at 7:30pm sunday, and up at 5am monday, off to gym for 90 minutes workout. i had prety good food days overall. lots of beans (ooh--gas all day long!) monday afternoon--spent additional 90 minutes swimming. i felt it this morning. altho i had 8 hours of sleep, i was a little slow getting up.

all in all, i am thrilled this is a 4 day week. son starts soccer today. dd has night class. i am running all the time! I cannot complain. one day, when it gets slow and quiet, i might miss all of this excitement.

i think i did overall pretty good--since my goal was to rest enough. and then the eating fell into place.

oh boy, sunday, i had the best cucumber salad!!

I was derailed before I even got started, but I haven't given up yet. Just not quite as focused and determined as I should be.

This is my dd's 3rd week of school too. Very different from my experience as well.

I've been doing pretty good with the challenge overall. Not as many 100% clean days as I would like but better than I was eating pre-challenge and I've done super at slowing down (that's just a bad habit for me).

My plan for today:
E: 1 hour of something probably on the lighter side as I had ankle and shoulder pain yesterday after our hike/kayaking. If the weather holds I'll walk 3 miles and then do some work in the basement. If it rains, I'll do some light cardio at home.
B: the usual
L: salad with a hard boiled egg
S: yogurt and fruit
D: pork tenderloin, zucchini, and a side salad instead of the pasta the rest of the family will be having.
