You guys convinced me that I must eat breakfast even if I am not hungry when I get up and now I am thinking I should take another baby step and start planning my meals.
I am not good at this. Usually I don't think about what is for lunch until it is time for lunch (or dinner).
When I started working I would sometimes get carried away with my scheduling and only allow 30 minutes or 1 hour to eat (including preparation) so I started writing in "lunch" or "dinner" when I typed up my schedule to remind myself that there was a reason for having a 1 or 2 hour break there and not to fill in another shift at that time.
I have to type it up every week because it changes from day to day (& week to week). As I was typing up next week's schedule it occurred to me that I could also write in "what" I was going to have as well as "when" and that way I would be planning my meals.

Brenaumom-Do you like waffles? If so, you might want to pick up some Kashi Waffles, I have found them in whole wheat and blueberry. They are very quick-pop in the toaster on medium for a minute or two and their done! I top mine with a little jelly or peanut butter and jelly. I like these because they are quick and easy and wanted to pass along to you for a breakfast idea.

I use to be so organized with my meals along with everything else. I would cook all day Sat. and do what I could in prep so the week would run smooth with meals. For hubby. I only ate one meal a day even then. I skip breakfast for no other reason then I just am not hungry. I usually go till around 2-4pm then eat a little something. I found out I snack more then I thought when I did a fast but it was not as much as I thought. Sometimes I just want a small handful of chips and once in awhile if I am not drinking my 4 liters I want a bite size piece of choc. Drives DS crazy that I take one bite and walk away when he can inhale and entire bag in one sitting. Is he over weight- course not!!!! I only eat the one meal and look the the Pilb. dough bride!!!! It has been over 20 years and I still haven't leanred to eat 3 meals a day. I am not sure it is even possible any more. But I will keep on trying. Hang in there BMom!!!!

Ditto. I try to keep a well stocked fridge/pantry and have a general idea of what we're having.

Good for you Judy for making breakfast a priority!

Good for you, eating breakfast!

On planning meals: I think it is critical to have at least a plan for the day, and to have stock on hand for healthy meal choices for several days. Having some choices that are quick, and some that involve enjoyable recipe preparation, is also good.

I tried planning a week in advance and it never worked! Frowner But I do adhere to the two principles above, and it's helped me in many moments when my hunger could have led me astray.Red Face)

Judy,

I'm not really good about planning my weeks meal by meal. Sometimes I'm really just not in the mood for something, or I am really in the mood for something. Anyway, I kind of plan my week in a sometime this week we'll have chicken stir-fry, spaghetti, black beans and rice, fajitas...If I have the things on hand, I can make those things when either I want them or DH and/or DS wants them.

Does that make sense? I guess what I'm getting at is that I plan ahead, but not down to the last detail.

Good going, Judy! I was just reading something last night about the negative impact that skipping breakfast has on blood sugar. I think you will see a difference if you start eating a healthy breakfast on a regular basis!

Good for you for making sure you eat breakfast and for getting a plan together for your meals.

I'm another one that is just not good at planning meals. I'm always impressed when others post in the "what's for dinner" thread about their meals for the next day.
My son was surprised one day when he asked what we were having for dinner and I actually knew. He said "usually you say you don't know". As I'm typing this I'm finally realizing that this is important to him. I really do need to make the effort to come up with some sort of meal plan and make sure that he (and dh and dd) have some input.
You should be proud of yourself for the steps you are taking to make changes. It sounds like a great plan!
