Do any of you have a good toaster that works? We received a toaster for a wedding present years ago that was great. However a year or so ago, it finally went kaput. I have tried 2-3 different toasters since then and they've all been terrible. Either they break or they just don't toast right.
Any recommendations would be great. Dawn

I gave up on toasters years ago and now only use a toaster oven. I use a toaster oven for many other things than toasting bread: to reheat pizza for a crispy crust, to bake potatoes (it doesn't heat up the house as much as the oven), to make cheese toast, etc. The toaster oven gives me a lot more versatility so, as a result, I use the oven on my stove MUCH less often than when I had a toaster.
I toast a wide range of breads, bagels and rolls; the toaster oven gives me versatility that most toasters don't as far as the size (length and depth) of product.
I bought an Oster toaster oven at KMart when I moved to Reho and gave away my old one. I like it very much. It not only works well in doing everything I need it to do, but it looks very smart as well (black & silver).

About 15 years ago we bought a stainless Dualit toaster at WS. It comes with a lifetime guarantee. One of the heating elements broke 2 yeras ago and I brought it back. They gave me a brand new one- no questions asked.
The cost of this brand is higher than most, but it is a one time buy so that it might be less expensive in the long run. Plus, they told us that the Queen of England uses this brand
I have a kitchen aid toaster that I bought a year or two ago at Bed, Bath & Beyond that I like. It usually requires two cycles for the lower settings to get to a uniform toasty brown color, but I'm okay with that.
Life is like a roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs, but the curves, spirals, loops and corkscrews are what make life interesting.
Our stainless steel Cuisinart toaster is used daily, and has lasted quite a few years.
As for "toasting right", I don't know how high your standards are. (I toast bakery white bread.)
I just did a Test Toast. It's lighter on one side than the other, but good enough for me.
The adjustment knob definitely works. On the lowest setting, you will have untoasted toast. On the highest setting, you will have black smoke billowing out of your toaster. I use it at about the 2-1/2 setting. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Sheltieguy,
We have a DeLonghi toaster that I got on clearance almost 5 years ago that we love. It works great and has a nifty little rack for warming up thing on top of the toaster slots (which actually works).

Well I have had my toaster since 1991 and "knock-wood" it still works great. I'll have to get back to you on the brand. It amazes me that I have the same toaster for almost 20 years!
