My oldest son is moving to Austin, Tx. Just wondering if there are any members in that area? I have a million "motherly" questions...and would like to know more about the area?
Pm me or write me here.

I grew up in Texas, spent considerable time in Austin; my brother went to college there; many of my friends from college lived there.
It's really an awesome, awesome place, full of character, fun things to do, no matter your age. It's packed with liberal-minded college students and conservative-minded politicians, funky art houses and music venues, and fantastic weather (I can say that, since I lived in the armpit Denise mentioned).
G'head an' ask away! (I'm getting you primed for the language barrier you might encounter if you visit.)
Challenge Goals: *10 minutes of unplanned exercise five times a week *Gym time twice a week *Socialize at least once every two weeks.
I lived in TX for 2-3 years... and if you have to live in TX, Austin is probably the best place to do it. The weather is much better than say... Houston... but the weather nearly ANY where is pretty much better than Houston. Living in Houston is pretty much like living in a sweaty arm pit (IM [not so humble] O). (No offense to anyone living in Houston or TX or from Houston or TX. ) Austin is considerably drier.
It is one of the more liberal cities in TX... which is either good or bad depending on your politics. I'd say Austin is a blue city, in a fairly red state.
The area is pretty, IMO. Good food... which is always a consideration if you are going to move.
I have an ex... and he lives in Austin. He's happy there and likes it a lot. Makes excellent money there. I'm happy here in CA... so that works well.
