I'm Tweeting. Which means Twitter will be so five minutes ago, about five minutes from now if I'm lucky. All this updating - the blog, the website, my roots and now Twitter! Jeez!
Twitter had me sign up for something called 12 seconds. This is a "feature" that allows you to post 12 second video updates. I could be posting video updates now but could never figure out a way to cook the food and shoot it too
Anyway, I'm going to give this 12 second thing some thought. If you have any ideas - and I know you do - let me know. Think EASY. Today I'm shopping for a pork chop recipe I need to test. I was thinking I could talk into my phone and shoot 12 second tips.
Won't that look "normal" at the grocery store? "Mom, That lady is talking to herself"....I have an iphone and don't think you can shoot video on an iphone so this poses a much larger issue. Now I need to find a VERY cheap, good quality video camera with a VERY good quality soft filter - you know - those filters that make Hollywood celebrities look MUCH younger and MUCH more glamorous than they really are
I gotta go to the gym now. Yes, that's right. The gym. I'm into the pool right now. Water aerobics and swimming laps. Then it's off to the market for ingredients to test a pork chop recipe. If you have any thoughts on any of this, Tweet me
I don't have it hooked up to my phone. I'm not sure how that works. If any of you know how the phone feature works, would you care to share? It's hard keeping up on all this stuff
And another thought - if you guys have thoughts on other features or add-ons you'd like to see on this site, PLEASE keep the ideas coming. Give each "IDEA" a new post - with the IDEA in the title. For instance, if you want us to have a Facebook page - then put FACEBOOK in the title and then tell us all how much you'd love to be the one who updates the page
I'm kidding! I think the Twitter page is http://twitter.com/chefkathleen. If it's not, please tell me and I'll try to figure it out. I would think that you could find it by typing chef kathleen into the Twitter search box. I will ask our web guy to link the Twitter page to our home page.
Okay, this may be tremendously silly to some, but Twitter just made my day. Carla Hall, she of the frizzy hair and mad cooking skills on Top Chef, just sent me a "Hootie hoo!" I am tickled pink!
For those of you on Twitter who are Top Chef fans, there are LOTS of folks from the show on Twitter. @carlahall, @RichardBlais, @ilanhall, @fabioviviani, @chefhosea (not active yet but has an account) and several others.

In the upper right hand corner of your home page there should be a HELP link--I just discovered it myself this moment! I have just observed others and it has helped a lot--though even then you see a lot of inconsistency. It helped me a lot to follow Ashton Kutcher (aplusk) and Demi Moore (mrskutcher) because they are VERY prolific Tweeple and I learned a lot from watching their Tweets.
So okay...you get a limited amount of space to say something, so you have to learn to be creative...ESPECIALLY when you are retweeting (replying to someone else's tweet).
There are 2 basic ways I've seen to reply to someone else...and I'll give an example. Let's say you are following me and you see the following tweet come up on your page:
@SheriReho: I had SUCH a great workout today. I feel strong & proud!
Here are the 2 main formats for replies that I've seen:
@Jillybean: @SheriReho Good for you, girl!
@Jillybean: Good for you, girl! RT @SheriReho I went had SUCH a great workout today. I feel strong & proud!
RT = retweet or reply in the 2nd example. That is the format I use for 2 reasons--1) It's the format that most of the "in the know" folks using; and 2) With SO many tweets flying (esp. once you are following a lot of people), a retweet that doesn't repeat at least a piece of what the person said may not make sense. For example...Ashton may send 20 tweets a day and GET hundreds or thousands of tweets from fans. If you don't give him a little hint of what you're replying to, he may forget what he said 10 hours ago that you're replying to.
I find that esp. important with the west coast people...cuz I'm just getting their tweets from last night when I get up the next morning.
Oh...there is a theme to most weekdays. You don't have to participate in the themes at all, but it can be a fun way to meet new people and get new followers. I probably won't remember them all but here are a few:
Monday:
Tuesday:
Wednesday: #woofwednesday = send out a tweet with #woofwednesday and the twitter name of people you know with dogs or dogs that have their own account (you'd be surprised!).
Thursday:
Friday: #followFriday = send out a tweet with #followFriday and the twitter names of people you know on Twitter that you think others would enjoy knowing about or following. For example, Victoria Stillwell of "It's Me or the Dog" TV show joined Twitter this week...so yesterday, I sent out her Twitter name as an account that some of my followers might enjoy following.

I had a twitter account for about 2 weeks. I just don't get the appeal of telling people what you're up to every single moment, and it's a pain in the rear to remember to do. So I've deleted my account. Besides, I tend to like living in anonymity, and often forget I have two blogs to attend to. I blame school and a blown short term memory.
Life is like a roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs, but the curves, spirals, loops and corkscrews are what make life interesting.

I can't find you on Twitter with either name. I'm Tayhudson on Twitter too.

Click on Sunday, then click on 11-noon hour. It will be available until next Sunday.
About 36 minutes into the conversation, somebody called in and asked, "I'm doing Twitter and only have one follower... and I'm on Facebook, and have one friend... how do I get myself out there and building up a following?"
I thought that there was some good info on building up a following.

I have a Facebook page and quite honestly I rarely ever go there and have no desire to join any more online social networking sites. I agree with Linda that I definitely do not need one more thing to tie me to my computer.
It's just not for me.
On a positive note though, I know many people who love it and have re-connected with old friends and can keep in touch online.

Goal for next 6 weeks:
Go to the gym 3x/week for a minimum of 45 minutes each time

I feel the same way, Judy and KD. Do I really need one more thing other than e-mail and my regular computer research and reading to keep me sitting down at my computer?
I'd love to hear someone's positive ideas about either Twitter or Facebook.
