the body is an odd thing. you know, yesterday, ihad my share of chocolate chips and almonds again. yes---AGAIN! but this morning, it was like my body shrank. i did not weigh myself, but i could tell my abs were flatter, my hips were thinner....very odd. you would think--the chocoalte chips and almond thing is not exactly on our list of "proven fat burners" well, i am not going to disillusion myself. i still have to break this evening habit of mine. i know i was awfully busy yesterday, so maybe my activity level made up for th eindulgence--who knows. my body remains a mystery.
had a great workout this morning. all cardio with some rear-delt work afterward. now, things are crazy at the office.

When things are going good, I have to watch my food so I don't indulge. When things are very bad I don't feel like eating, and still gain weight. No balance in life.
Right now I couldn't care less about food. So in my universe, I'll pay for that later.

alright sheri! i have to meditate on "tucking my tailbone in" now.
this morning was a great workout. i had started the munching again last night--chocolate chips and almonds--not good. so mindless! for a long time, i never kept chocolate chips in the house, but then i made the children some CC waffles last week and the bag was leftover. oh well.

Jean and I did Turbojam today...which I hadn't done in EONS. Since Jean has problems learning steps, I put on the instructional portion which goes through all the steps very slowly and then we did the 20-minute workout so it came out to 30 minutes. We usually work out for 45 mins to an hour but we were both about beat from all that punching and kicking and tucking our tailbones! LOL

one disadvantage of working at night was the night sweats. i used to do a kickboxing class on monday and wednesday nights.
i was waking up in the middle of th enight, sweating on my chest. at first, i thought i was starting menopause awfully early (I was like 37 or 38 at the time). then one of my buddies in the class (40 years old) was having the same thing happen to her. her doctor told her it was just the rise in body temperature from working out in the evening.
once i switched to morning workouts totally, i never had this problem again.

I'm starting to find that the weather often forces me to move my workout time around. Running in the cold is one thing, running in the cold when it's raining is another.
Sometimes I'm so antsy after being at work all day that exercising after work is a good thing. Other times I'm so exhausted after being at school and then work that I blow it off.
But I've found that if I'm not hampered by school and work, I much prefer working out in the morning.
Life is like a roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs, but the curves, spirals, loops and corkscrews are what make life interesting.
i hear you sheri. i am struggling with this decision.
i now have dd, plus 2 stepkids.they need help wit homework, i have to get dinner on the table, off the table, clean the table, pack lunches, blah blah blah--there goes my time from 5-7:30pm.
because i get up so darned early for my workouts, i am in bed at 8pm and sleeping shortly therafter, and it is hard to get those 3 kids to calm down and quiet themselves so i can snooze. and unrealistic. so that was when i started to think--maybe i should go to the gym from 7:30 to 9pm. and aim to get to bed by 10:30pm if possible. and then wake up at a decent hour instead of an insane early hour.
idk!

I'd be curious how you like it if you try it. After work was always my most hated time to work out, but then I worked a 10 1/2-hour work day (at a minimum) so by the time I got home, I would blow it off with "I'm too tired" excuses.
Before I retired, I tried workout out before work, at lunchtime and after work and I much preferred before work. Didn't prefer getting up earlier, but did love being able to say "I'm done for the day!" and not have to worry about squeezing it in later.

monday was very darn good. kept to my food plan. exercised 80 minutes in the morning mostly weight training. i made an impromptu smoothie for dinner: soy milk, splash of vanilla, Cow brand coffee yogurt. it was pretty filling.
i am thinking of switching my workout time to "afterwork" but i am not sure how that will work out. i have to think about it.
this morning was another super workout. mostly cardio. should be a very good day. the weather has been just beautiful--altho the pollen count has been messing with my eyes.

I FINALLY got back to the gym this morning after an almost-month-long absence. I've been working out 2 days a week at home, but the whole point of my inviting Jean to work out at home is for HER to have a workout (since her gym membership ran out and she's not sure she can afford to re-up) and for ME to have EXTRA workouts over and above the gym. But as soon as we started working out, I stopped going ot the gym....not cuz I made a conscious choice "I'm not going to the gym today" but because I literally forgot to go!
Anyway, since Jean & I did weights yesterday (along with cardio), I decided to take my iPod and get on the treadmill and try to make it to an hour. Back in Alexandria, when there was actually SHADE to walk in when it got to hot (which there is precious little of here), I routinely walked 45 minutes to an hour and 15 minutes. But, since I got here and there is no shade and the walking is so boring because it's all flat, I have gone down to more like 20-40 minutes and rarely go over an hour anymore.
I wanted to change that...to start having those longer walks cuz I think they will help me with fat burning...so I made it to 53 minutes of an hour-long walking playlist on my iPod. Not bad for my first try! I'm cool with that.

Neighbor/friend Jean and I did a new workout yesterday here at home...Boost Your Metabolism I think is the name. It is a DVD that I got from Amazon to review and had forgotten about. It is a sequence of weights, cardio, weights, cardio and we didn't make it to the end.
We both found it too high impact for us (she's about 10 years older than I and, like me, has bad knees), so we did our own moves when the instructor was leaping about.
We definitely broke a sweat, though, and worked out for about 45 minutes, so it had the desired effect!

boss took us all out to japanese yesterday. i had seaweed. talk about greens and the "runs"--oh boy.
well, i am better today after 8 hours of sleep but not quite 100%. hard as hell to wake up. groggy thru the workout, but i did 80 minutes of a strong workout. breakfast was egg white with soy cheese, spinach and mushrooms, and now, munching on a KIND fruit and nut bar. lunch will be tofu and napa cabbage soup. maybe a little yogurt as a snack later. dinner will be protein shake, almonds, one biscotti.

Trying to get my greens in and boy am I getting a run for my money (TMI, sorry).
Thought I'd lay down after dinner and all of a sudden it was 2-3 hrs later. I had no idea I was that sleep deprived. I should wake up now so I can go to bed.

i love that folks are writing about vacations! tis the season...
after being tired saturday (running 7 miles), and then waking up tired sunday (running 6 more miles), i decided to take it easy today. no gym this morning. i actually drove half way there, with my eyes closed mostly, and decided i was nuts to continue. so back to bed for another hour, and then starbucks for my morning coffee. eating super clean today. i feel more rested. the pollen is wrecking havoc also. i scratched my eyes all night. boy, i was lookin' real beauti-mous this morning! hey good-lookin!

i had a good saturday which started with a 7 mile run, and then canoeing. but then i hit a wall--exhausted! and we went to the chinese buffet. i actually made pretty good chocies altho probably had more sugar than i needed with the cooked apples.
sunday, i woke up tired again, but i had a little coffee and did a 6 mile run. followed up with errands. i am spending the day just packing meals, and cleanings. if i am lucky, i will get a little timei n the sun, maybe do a few yoga poses with my flowers.
