My trip was GREAT!
The snow was great. The skiing was VERY exceptional. I had a great time with my sister. We took a (FREE!) Women's Ski Clinic on Thursday that was a blast. She turned 50 and we had a great lunch together.
My mom is also doing incredibly well! She had hip replacement surgery. It is a combo of just one bad hip and the other hip is good. (Many people who need hip replacement, need BOTH hips replaced, thus they are still pretty limp-y after having first hip replaced as they still have a bad hip, so she is fortunate that she only needed one.) Good surgeon. New surgical techniques that are easier to recuperate from. Many good/healthy habits. And a lot of motivation. So she is doing GREAT.
She had to go to the ER, as she was getting a blister under a piece of tape and needed the bandages changed (but no dr. office was open)… but every person that sees her… ER docs/staff, physical therapists, friends, me… anybody who sees her... we are all blown away by how well she is doing and we are all, “I can’t believe that you had hip replacement surgery LAST WEEK!”.
She is using a cane and sometimes a walker… but she is limping with the first couple of steps after getting up, but then able to walk without limping at all. And she is weaning off of pain meds and is doing incredibly well.
And I was gone for 10 days and house is pretty clean and in good shape. AND I weigh about the same as I did when I left (waiting 2 days to see if I lose some water weight...).
So things are good.
Only "bad". Drove about 600 miles in past 3 days, and I'm quite tired and my shoulder sort of hurts.
