Hi there. Well, I was doing grocery shopping for the next few days today because we got back from vacation last night. I picked up some powdered Ovaltine Choc. malt flavored.
Has anyone or does anyone drink this? I thought it was a wonderful way for me to kick some of sweets craving and get some milk in. I am having some now as a dessert and I am enjoying it.
I wanted to see who else has had this and your thoughts.

I think it is one of those good, better, best things. IF you drink hot cocoa, it is better for you than Nesquick, Hershey's syrup, or Swiss Miss. I wouldn't add it to my diet hoping to reap any great benefits, but I would replace something not as healthy with it...if that makes sense.

Sure does make sense! I used to drink Ovaltine as a child. I loved the "undertaste" of vitamins in it; less sweet and more malty than Nestle Quik.

I like the chocolate Silk too but I can't drink enough milk to use two big cartons! But I have been known to mix a little Hershey's syrup into my lite vanilla...
I love that most of the coffee shops now have soy milk available for lattes and mochas. Mostly I stick to the plain coffee though.

For people who can't drink milk -- I'm one of them -- Silk makes a very tasty light vanilla soymilk. It is obviously not going to work in mashed potatoes, but for sweet drinks it works well. I warmed some on the stove yesterday to put in my chai tea (I use a chai spice teabag that Stash makes) and it was really a nice treat.
Jen,
The chocolate Silk is delicious! To me it is even better than regular chocolate milk. I was drinking too much of it though, so I had to cut it out.
I like the Enhanced Silk, and recently have been using rice milk too. Rice Dream now makes Horchata that is really good. A little high in sugars, but a nice treat.

That makes sense.
I don't drink hot cocoa every day. Right now, since I'm maintaining, if I added 70-150 cal of Ovaltine everyday... I'd have to cut something else out... and it would probably end up being fruit... and that doesn't make sense...

They have been running Ovaltine ads like crazy on the radio. Personally, I don't believe the ads that it is so healthy and nutritious. I think that is marketing.
But I eat some foods that are not especially nutritious... in moderation. Most days, though, I'd rather spend those calories on fruit...

Ovaltine was a staple in our home all of my life. I buy it now for my boys, it has lots of good stuff in it and they love it. As a little girl, my favorite thing to do was to dip my spoon in my milk and dip the wet spoon into the ovaltine and eat it. Or sprinkle it over ice cream. It is sooooo good!!
