Last night for dinner I made a veggie/chicken lo mein with japanese style noodles. Well, the last time I was at Trader Joe's I stocked up on their Trader Joe's brand japanese style noodles. I got a couple packages of each variety. Last night I used a mix of their organic udon noodles, and their curry pasta (also in the Japanese Style Noodles packaging...it is a 9.5 oz package). Anyhow, these are GOOD noodles! The curry was awesome with the veggies and chicken and sauce (I used a mixture of oyster sauce and hoisin sauce thinned out with jasmine tea....I set the table with our asian looking dishes/chopsticks/ and my chinese tea teapot and cups and we had chinese jasmine tea with our dinner....I used some of it to thin the sauce....YUMMMMMY). I just had to recommend these noodles to anyone that does asian style foods.

Blessings,

Lori

I try to stay around 30% (35% is my top limit) most of the time. In this case it works out to 33% alone but then I add one to two cups of steamed veggies which lowers it (per serving) but I don't know by how much.

The pkg says 70 calories from fat but if you take the grams listed which is 7gr and multiply by 9 (the number of calories in a gram) you only get 63 calories from fat. Divide 63 by the total calories (190) and you get 33% fat.
I never take their word for it on calories from fat. I multiply the total grams by 9. In this case the package was high, but most of the time they are low.

A related find. I LOVE the brown rice pasta from TJ's. I've tried a large variety of pastas, w/ and w/o wheat over the past few years and this is the best alternative to regular semolina pasta, hands down.

Just a heads up Judy...you probably have looked at the nutritionals but just in case you haven't. I was shocked to discover how high in fat Ramen noodles are. I guess they are fried and that's why they cook so fast. I quit eating them and now it's been so long I don't remember how high they were in fat. If you are looking for a substitue, I really like the rice stick noodles that KD uses in recipes. They cook up almost as fast as ramen.

Lori,
Your post made me feel so excited-- we are getting a TJ's sometime next year.

Can't wait.

That sounds yummy Lori! I'm going to have to go check out Trader Joe's. I get the sale ad booklet every couple of months or so in the mail.

Trader Joes does still have a website, but they don't do online orders Frowner

We don't have a Trader Joes nearby, we have to drive an hour in either direction to get there, and we don't go to either town more than once a year, so I don't get to shop there very often anymore Frowner

Lori

I have heard another little buzz that we are getting one but don't remember where I heard it. I just hope they don't put it in Atlantic Station. I don't like going downtown for anything.
There is a new Whole Foods on Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth, between P'tree Ind. and Medlock Bridge (Hwy 141)that looks like it is about ready to open. We passed it Tuesday on the way to have my blood test.

Judy,
A couple of years ago, they told my mom that they are going to open in Atlanta, and in fact it will be distribution hub for the Southeast. They said it was about three years away though. Then I saw in the AJC they were going to open one in about a year (and I think I saw that last fall.) In most other cities that have them, they are in suburbs, not in the actually city. No offense though, Atlantic Station would be perfect for me since I work in Midtown.

Jill they don't do online orders. I would order all the time if they did. I think they even let their web site go as cost saving messure to customers.

I have no specific goal(s) right now. I am trying to find the spiritual side of myself that I lost somewhere along the way.
