I LOVE donuts. And I usually could be in the same room with them up until August (when DH went gluten free) because I made homemade ones about once a month as a treat. I've made do by only allowing one on running days from Starbucks, but can easily get sucked in by any donut when I'm tired and stressed out (which I am).

Today I walk into the office and they put donuts right next to the sign in sheet. So now I have to find a way to ignore them all day. (Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but with my possible stress fracture, I'm not running right now. That means I don't have room for a single bite of donut.)

I'm posting this so that I have some sort of accountability today, as it would be so easy to just eat one and not care. I'll try to poke my head back in around my lunch break and before I leave to report. Sigh...long day ahead...

Life is like a roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs, but the curves, spirals, loops and corkscrews are what make life interesting.

Thanks for the encouragement & suggestions. I'm heading to lunch now, which means I'm going to the sign in/out sheet & the donuts. I'm going to eat my lunch and only my lunch. Really. I can do this. (I keep thinking about the number of people who don't wash their hands after going to the restroom and then reach into communal food. That should be enough to keep me out of the donuts, I hope.)

_____________

I'm back from lunch. No donuts. one break to go.

I don't know if your work environment would allow for this but I started doing this when I get cravings for junk (i do work from home a lot so I can do this easily)-when I start wanting to eat a cookie or candy I do jumping jacks or sit-ups or jog in place for a few minutes. It seems to help me say no to the junk food.

I have no specific goal(s) right now. I am trying to find the spiritual side of myself that I lost somewhere along the way.

the pleasure from that donut will vanish in minutes. the pleasure from good health, fitness and well being will stay for years and years to come. you can do it!!!

Goals:
1. Enjoy life!
2. Be aware, be awake, pay attention.
3. One word 2010: faith

If you need extra motivation, look up the calories in a donut - it's pretty sobering ; )

Out of our beliefs are born deeds; out of our deeds we form habits; out of our habits grows our character; and on our character we build our destiny.
