What did you get for Christmas?

Mother and Daddy both gave $$ since they don't "go shopping" any more, except that mother also gave DD a BodyBugg. She gave DD the BodyBugg AND money because she forgot she had told me to order the BodyBugg for her.
My sister gave me "Bakewise" Big Grin
Dena gave me a cushion for me to use in the car so I can see over the hood Wink and also got me "Healthy Bread in 5 Minutes A Day" (before Christmas so I could cook out of it).
My best friend gave me a Kokopelli set with tiger's eye (I love anything Kokopelli).
And I got a pair of fleece gloves.

Used some of mother's money to buy me a baking stone for the oven.

Dena got nice gifts and some gift cards from her parents at work. She used the cards to get a small Panni press, a nice blender and Active for the Wii.
She also received Wii Fit Plus and the new Jillian Michaels Wii workout game from her aunt and godmother. Now all we have to do is figure out how to attach the Wii to the TV in the living room. We can't seem to find an "auxilliary channel" on that TV.

I'm not back to running yet but I can do just about everything else pain free. My last scheduled PT session is this coming Wednesday and I believe the therapist will be putting together a walk/run program for me to start. That will be the real test!

***

I bit the bullet today and bought new skis! I'm soooooo excited to try them out. I pick them up Monday morning and then weather permitting will head to the mountain to try them. I can't wait!

Skiing tomorrow on rentals will be hard knowing that my skis are waiting for me, especially the boots. I've never had a pair of ski boots that were more comfortable than the ones I just bought. I'm in love with these new boots. Unfortunately I had to leave them with my skis as they didn't have another one in my size : (

It feels sooooo good to be back to skiing regularly!

Actually......I'm now thinking of holding off on the elliptical and putting the money towards ski equipment. I'm back to being able to use my Nordic Track and should be able to slowly reintroduce running in a few weeks so I'm not sure if I really "need" an elliptical.

The only issue now with purchasing new skis is that I realize that this winter has been very unusual and the kind of snow we're having is not typical. I could potentially end up buying stuff and then only getting to ski 1 or 2 times next year.

I'm definitely going to buy my own boots though as the rental ones stink and right now stuff is way on sale.

No problem Denise. The part wasn't super expensive. Of course ours was free since the bike was new at the time. It would certainly be cheaper and less wasteful to try to fix it than to pitch it and buy a new one.

OMG! I hadn't thought of THAT!!! I just thought ours was dead.

Thank you so much!

Thanks for the vote of confidence for Pro Form Francie. I have read good things about the brand in general, just not sure about this particular elliptical. Seems like unless I'm spending $2000 or more the reviews are always mixed.

We bought an exercise bike from Pro Form off the internet many years ago.

The magnetic clamps that control the resistance were not working right, but they shipped us the part and sent out a guy to fix it right away. Haven't had a problem since. We had good customer service.

I would hope that if you bought an elliptical that ended up being a lemon, they would send you the right parts to fix it, and someone with the know how to install them.

I think I'm going to bite the bullet and buy that elliptical.

This is the one that I've been narrowing in on:
http://www.proform.com/webapp/...1_16002_29510_100353

I tried it out at our local sports store and I really liked it. The only problem is that I'm finding all kinds of conflicting reviews on it.

The store manager loved it and said it was their most popular elliptical. I've read everything from it being best in this price point to it being unreliable. I've been researching for hours and am definitely feeling frustrated.

I don't want to buy something "blind" so even if I can find something on line, I don't want to buy it unless I can try it somewhere locally.

I went to check out the inexpensive ellipticals today. I think I'm going to need to spend closer to $500-$600 for a model that I'll be happy with. I'm not ready to make that kind of investment until I see what happens with my ankle. If I can get back to running, I know my preference will be to be outdoors. However, if I can only walk, I will want something at home that will give me a good work out. So, for the time being I'll be using the stationary bike.

Gave up on the living room TV but did finally get the Wii attached to the flat screen in the family/dinning room. Now we just have to figure out how to get that TV back on the wall Frowner.

You can make little "mii"s for your pets on Wii Fit Plus so now Luke and Leia are on there with us Wink. Lots of new "games" on the Plus, including one that uses a SEGWAY Big Grin. I still want one of those. Of course I am super sore this morning Wink

One more party to go to tonight for the OSU game and then it's back to normal eating.

I have no specific goal(s) right now. I am trying to find the spiritual side of myself that I lost somewhere along the way.

new pair of running shoes, coffe mug with french press, dark chocolate bars, new black coat, sweater, journal. mostly, i value the time off from work. we have had time to go to the zoo, go swimming, go to the gym as a family, watch DVD's, eat out together. the time together has been the best. during the normal work week, the weekends are just not enough. i end up catching up on laundry, shopping, cooking and cleaning. so it has been a real gift to have this time. my book Dornw has arrived so my goal is to read a bit before going back to work on monday.

here's wishing everyone has a beautiful 2010!
