I have this sentence on everything I own right now. It is the wisest thing I have heard in a very long while about being diabetic. Yes diabetes is a very serious disease and you can die from complications of diabetes, but you aren't diabetes.
When I was diagnosed three years ago, I had an A1C which measures the amount of sugar in your blood and your pancreas' ability to use it at 13.5....14.0 is a sign of the need of insulin. But over those three years and lots of healthy information, work and preserverance, with a dose of avoidance (that stubborn little girl) I have managed to get it down to 5.5 and to heal my liver. I am proud of myself and my work....it hasn't been easy and I'd hate to have to do it again. But I would because I care about me.
But I am not diabetes, I have diabetes.
