I have always wanted to have my own not for profit organization. Yes I know how much time and effort I would have to put into it...but I was wondering knew about the basics of starting one.
Fees involved? paperwork and waiting time? anything else?

Steph, My understanding is that there are state to state differences so you may want to check out www.georgia.org to see if they have any resources for you.
When I started my business, the Ohio website had all kinds of helpful information.
You may also want to see if your town has any type of women in business type organizations. I got lots of information from them as well.
I have heard though that it's tougher to legally start a non-profit and there are more hoops to jump through but good luck!
Out of our beliefs are born deeds; out of our deeds we form habits; out of our habits grows our character; and on our character we build our destiny.
I would start with your local library's business department. There is a wealth of stuff out there that will get you on your way to being up and running.
