I had what I called an "Orphan Thanksgiving" one time where I invited all sorts of people who, like me, didn't have family in the area. I had a sit-down dinner for about 15 people in a 1-bedroom apartment. Now if you don't think that took some creativity... LOL

Mmmmmm Duck! Sounds like a great plan Cate. Duck with cranberry-orange relish sounds devine.

I'm out of laundry detergent. I think I'll go to the dollar store... I don't think that it will be crowded... Sending you best wishes, Catherine! I know that you are very good at taking care of yourself and turning these things around. Is you church having any activity? Are there other "singles" who don't have family in the area who you can hook up with? We often had people get together for Thanksgiving like this. If you have any good friends at church... I don't think that it would be inappropriate to call someone up and say, "All my plans have suddenly changed and I'd love to spend Thanksgiving with my church family if there is an empty chair some place." People always have too much food... so that isn't an issue.

I was out to pick up a couple things for salad- it is CRAZY out there. Lots of people rushing. I sort of like the hustle and bustle, but am glad to be home too.

Cate Is this a new development? Do you already have t-day type food in the house? Are you looking for menu ideas? PS If it were me, I'd go get a turkey dinner from a restaurant or market and pamper myself by not having to lift a finger for the day ; )
