I have always wanted to have my own not for profit organization. Yes I know how much time and effort I would have to put into it...but I was wondering knew about the basics of starting one.
Fees involved? paperwork and waiting time? anything else?

Change to make a change
It's as easy as that---we all have our causes we want to help. How about encourage people of ALL ages to collect change to make a change.
My daughter's school does that once a semester for different charities. This week we did one for Second Harvest.
My 6 year old always puts some of her allowance in the donate section of her piggy bank to save for these school charity drives.

When I started my business, the Ohio website had all kinds of helpful information.
You may also want to see if your town has any type of women in business type organizations. I got lots of information from them as well.
I have heard though that it's tougher to legally start a non-profit and there are more hoops to jump through but good luck!

I would start with your local library's business department. There is a wealth of stuff out there that will get you on your way to being up and running.
Life is like a roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs, but the curves, spirals, loops and corkscrews are what make life interesting.
