Speaking and thinking of books about a year or so ago Linda you posted about a website that was like a virutal library. Would you mind posting that site again? I think I can actually get DH interested if he likes what he sees. Cross your fingers!

A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini The Road by Cormac McCarthy
Those are 2 I read a year or so ago that I found very impactful and engaging...neither one is a happy read, though.
Sheri,
A Thousand Splendid Suns was the last book I couldn't tell enough people about. I loved it more than his first book The Kite Runner and I did really like that one.
The Road was a disappointment to me. It was o.k. It was also my introduction to Cormac McCarthy. I still think I'll get around to All the Pretty Horses sometime despite my disappointment with this one.

I can second this one. LOVED this book.

Marley and Me is a fantastic read.
This one, I wasn't quite as big a fan of. I'm a HUGE dog lover, but Groban (Marley's dad, who wrote the book) irritated me. It seemed to me that he was taking every opportunity to pat himself on the back.
A book I read through Amazon Vine that I would have never chosen myself is Company of Liars by Karen Maitland. The first few pages, I thought "Oh no, I've made a mistake." because I didnt' realize it was a period story (takes place in England during the early spread of the Black Plague) and I don't care much for period stories as a rule, but it's characters and the writing swept me up and I ended up liking it quite a lot. Very memorable.
Steph, have you read these? A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini The Road by Cormac McCarthy

Yesterday morning I started The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. I should finish it this afternoon since I have less than 100 pages (out of 278) to finish it.
Do you think that will qualify?

The Story of Edgar Sawtelle was a good read. The ending is controversial and I'm not sure even a couple of weeks after I read it, how I feel about it.
Marley and Me is a fantastic read.
I forget what you like to read (or was it you were so busy with textbooks and "Fred"?).
I can download audiobooks thru my local library. I think it's called netLibrary. I access it thru my library's website. You tell them what device (brand of mp3, ipod, etc) you're using. The download is good for 3 weeks, then it disappears from your mp3/ipod. Of course, you can check it out again if you're not finished. They have everything imaginable. I think you can also download it to your computer to read on the screen.
I'm also signed up with several reviewing sites and publishers where I get free books. Some are just free some I have to write a review or critique.
One of those is LibraryThing.com where every month a list of books is listed. Unfortunately it is not a closely guarded secret and so many people request the few books there are.
Oh I think it was almost like a book exchange of some sorts. Like he would be able to check things out and get them in them in the mail...it has been a while so I can't remember all the details.

I need a little more information or a little time. The LibraryThing.com is a way to keep track of books. By virtual library do you mean you can read from the selections? Or do you just want to keep track of books.
