Day 24 (Wed. June 4, 2008)

Weight 204

According to Fitday.
Calories consumed: 1552
Calories burned: 2339

Wednesday was another crazy day. My toes were still sore and I had to go get the oil changed in my car so I spent the morning sitting. I did not get to Curves either. After the oil business I took mother grocery shopping and then had lunch (at home). Curves closed for lunch while I was grocery shopping and did not open again until 3:30 but by then we were already on our way to Medieval Times (dd's birthday present). "Our Knight" won and was the hero of the evening Big Grin and dinner was very good. Roasted chicken (leg, thigh, wing & half a breast), 1 bbq rib (which I didn't eat because of my teeth), baked potato, vegetable soup, apple crisp. I intended to take a picture but forgot the camera.
I will be so glad when this week is over. There is something going on every day this week and I have been having to look up generic entries on fitday instead of knowing the exact numbers. I hope the family reunion on Sunday is the last of it for a while and things can get back to "normal".

-----------------------------------
Next week is my monthly weigh-in at Curves.

Since my weight has changed since the last time i did it, I recalculated my RMR using Dr. Peeke's formula.

RMR 1467

Using the lifestyle labeled "light lifting & some movement" I need 2348 calories to Maintain and reducing that by 500 to lose weight leaves me with 1848.

Using the lifestyle labeled "Desk Job" I need 2054 to maintain and 1554 to lose.

Since I have been tracking on fitday I have been trying to keep it under 1500.

My experience with fitday is that it greatly understimates calories for restaurant food. For example, Fitday says an apple crisp is 400 cals/cup. Apple crisps in a restaurant could be upwards of 600 - 700 calories (see Calorieking's website).

I find that for myself, I need to be eating pretty darn clean to keep my calorie count below 1500/day. For me that means no extra bites/tastes, having to measure my portions and be stingy with my cooking oils. There is no way I could stay below 1500 if I was eating out unless I was sticking to salads w/o any high fat items (cheese, bacon, nuts, dressing) and veggie soups.

Tracking calories is really a guessing game when you aren't cooking at home. For me, dining out makes it very difficult to lose weight.

I'm pretty sure that Denise said this in another post, but if you get to a point with you are not happy with the rate that you are losing, eating in may really help get the scale moving.

Out of our beliefs are born deeds; out of our deeds we form habits; out of our habits grows our character; and on our character we build our destiny.
