We've been cutting back on our spending (not the same as debt reduction) using the Beck book. No, really! We "journal" our money. I have a response card, and so does he (I don't think he uses it, but it's there). We wrote down all the things we could accomplish by spending less money (that was the first thing). We look at our spreadsheet each week to see where we're going off track. I'll third the Suze Orman recommendation, too. Based on where you live and who you bank with...your bank may also offer free personal finance checks--to see what you're paying in interest vs what's average, and if you could be paying less; where your money is being spent, etc.
Challenge Goals: *10 minutes of unplanned exercise five times a week *Gym time twice a week *Socialize at least once every two weeks.

My favorite money management book is The Richest Man in Babylon. It takes all of the basics of money management and presents them in a story/fable format. It's very accessible. I think the author's last name is Cason?

I heartily ditto the recommendation of Suze Orman.
