I saw this study and thought of several people on this board.
Being overweight increases a person's chances of cardiovascular disease. (Like duh, we all know that!)
However, being on the slim side also increases a person's chance dying from cardiovascular disease. The graph in the WW'ers link below is a "U shaped curve".
Heart failure mortality rises with low BMI - with a "low" BMI being < 22 for women and < 23.5 for men.
Thinner, even on the "healthy" weight chart, is not always better, as least when it comes to heart disease... which IS the number one killer of both men and women.
I'm so glad studies are revealing this. For a long time, I've thought the maniac emphasis on skinniness is flawed. (This is why I like this board, btw: here I see moderation.)
