Proud of Me!!

I had to post, I am so proud of myself. We went out for dinner tonight which usually for me means I will end up coming home bloated and feeling so gross because I almost always overeat. Not tonight!! Dinner for me was a spring mix salad with balsamic vinegratte on the side, scallops, shrimp, mussels, and clams in a broth with snow peas and portabella mushrooms(steamed) on the side. NO bread, no dessert, no overeating. I did have a latte with sweet and low after dinner but NO 1,000 calorie dessert for me!
AND the best part-this restaurant had this really cool game room/arcade in the back so after dinner we all went and played air hockey, danced on some crazy electronic dance thing, shot some hoops, and I rode this really cool skateboard video game where you are on a skateboard with a big screen in front of you and you follow the course on screen-which by the way gave me a whole new respect for skateboarders, wow is that hard and my legs are worn out!
Just had to post because this was such a victory for me!

Thanks for all the good wishes-this was a really good night for me and as Denise stated an A-HA moment for real! I don't know how many times I've gone out and made bad choices or had nothing really good available to fit my needs. I really feel good about my decisions last night and hope to be able to continue! I think this healthy stuff is finally starting to click. I have to also say that I used to be a huge couch potato. I did marathon TV watching, sometimes 7 or 8 hours straight. Now, I don't do that. I want to be active. Not out of guilt but because I really want to. I have to tell you this and I hope you all get a good laugh. My friend has never seen Animal House. I rented it and during the scene where they play "Shout" I was dancing around the living room because I felt the need to MOVE!!! I am really having a great weekend and hope this need to be active and have fun continues!!!

Jill, I loved reading this story.

It really is an "A-HA!" moment when you can go out, have a nice dinner and a good time and not be stuffed!!

The restaurant is called The Works, it is in a really cool building that used to be an iron factory. It is in Wyomissing, PA, right outside of Reading. They certainly have there fair share of unhealthy food choice but they have a good selection of healthier choices too. And the fact that you can run around like a kid afterward is so cool. Here's a link to their website http://gearedforfun.com/index.htm. If anyone is ever in southeast PA let me know, we can work off some calories on the skateboard game and air hockey!!

That is terrific! Where was this place -- I like that they offer healthy AND tasty options. So often the healthy options are all kind of boring. Smiler

Good for you. It really is true that nothing tastes as good as being thin (or eating thin) feels.
I love it when I make a change and feel better.

I just had breakfast (healthy of course!) but that dinner sounds delicious. You must be really happy with yourself for making good choices. Well done Cool You have proven that we don't have to feel deprived when we go out to eat, or any time come to that.

Jill, how wonderful!!! And I'm so glad that you're acknowledging that success and revelling in it! The next time you're tempted to overdo, you can look back at this experience and think "No, I know how GREAT I felt that time I didn't overdo it, and I want to feel that way again!"

Way to go!!!
