I know I do well when I'm focused and working on some project, can go hours without thinking about food or other things but I've decided it's not healthy for me and I need to move around and do other things. Often I'm just here on the computer for 4-10 hours at a time. I'm going to try and break it up; do some reading in my easy chair in the other room, work up in my office, get some light housework done (my bright purple living room furniture is "faded" because it's covered in so much cat hair). No reason I have to necessarily shift projects, there's variety in all my projects too; I don't have to only read or only write or only research. I think when I stay in one place too long that eventually feels "boring" to my body so when I get up I head for the kitchen/food.

So True! I work from home and would feel guilty if I left my office for 10 min for lunch because my phones would then go to my VM. I realized one day that I need to take a break, either to go outside for some fresh air or to eat lunch, whatever...just like I would if I worked in a regular office. It really does help to break up your day.

Keeping busy definitely keeps my fingers "out of the cookie jar" so to speak. I ate lunch today and was craving something sweet but didn't want to blow my calories for the day and I still had some time left on my "lunch break"(which is what I give myself every day for 30-45 min) so instead of eating I tackled some dishes that needed to be done. It felt good to accomplish that and not have eaten something I would have regretted.

I'll say you're off to a great start in chopping up the day. I have the same problem being home all day. I had to divide my day up into segments and stick to the plan, just as I would if I were working. It's never too late to get it right.
