Today do 5 minutes of extra activity. Make it count. Work to your potential.

I have done this exercise from time to time and find that it helps conteract all or nothing thinking.

Post what you do for those 5 minutes.

Happy May Day!

I am going to count my many trips up/down the steps on crutches as extra activity because wow is my left leg getting a workout! I am having a hard time sitting still so I am trying to do some things around the house.

We have been doing some outdoor family walks. If I timed it all correctly, 5 min. extra was added on to today's walk.

Not exactly what you had in mind, but I put a dent in clearing the dining room table and it was done while standing. That's pretty amazing for me! Standing can be very difficult for me.

I'm heading to the gym in a few; I'll give it 50 minutes on the treadmill instead of 45.

(I would have done something at work, but because the President was on base, they had all our outside access shut down so I didn't see this until I got home...)

Challenge Goals:
*10 minutes of unplanned exercise five times a week
*Gym time twice a week
*Socialize at least once every two weeks.

I took a work break and walked the stairs in my office building -- 12 flights in each direction.

This, on top of the 40-minutes of treadmill and core exercising I did this morning, when I really, really didn't want to get out of bed.

I took extra time at the gym this morning to do additional lower body weight lifting. Our plyo-swing was loaded down with weights and bands and I wanted to see if I could get through my sets with all that weight. I did and could even do a couple of reps with only one leg : )

I'm also going to head back outside for an additional walk as it's really warm out and catch some rays before the t-storms start.

summer 7 challenge goals:
- Meditate every day
- Start the day with positive imagery and self talk

I walked for an iced tea during my prep time. It was so beautiful outside. My head was cleared and the 20 minute walk felt good as I won't get any other exercise today.

Normally I walk to work (about 10-15 minutes), but I had to go to the far end of campus for a health appointment today and was tempted to drive. I walked instead -- and after checking my watch, realized it had only taken 20 minutes to walk there -- finding a parking space would have eaten up most of the time I saved by driving. So I got my extra 5 or so minutes, saved gas, and got a nice morning walk too.

I will get about 10 minutes of extra walking today with my 50# turtleshell (oops, backpack) on my back. As a bonus, I'll do 20 steps twice going up, 30 going down.

Life is like a roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs, but the curves, spirals, loops and corkscrews are what make life interesting.

Done: woke up with very stiff and sore arms, I did five extra minutes with my bands, and WOW!
not so sore, not so stiff. It pays to keep those arthritic joints moving and limber

Summer Challenge Goals:

1. Get out of the house and in the pool four days a week.
2. Schedule meals a week at a time.
3. five fruits and vegetables a day, along with water.
