That's good though Lynn, it seems like you can see the silver lining either way it turns out. I can understand. I was excited to move to Atlanta and saw it as an adventure. It has been difficult, but also a lot of fun.

NOW, I'm going home. I have mixed feelings. Of course, home is home. Extended family is there and that is wonderful. However, at the same time, I had just gotten used to Atlanta, and gotten through the rough part of the adjustment and now I'm like "for what?".

I think you'll be fine either way. You have a great attitude.

Dawn

Oh Lynn, wow. What do you want? Do you want to stay there or would you be interested in moving?

I hope that things turn out for you the way that will be best for you and all of your family in the long run.

Best Wishes,
Dawn

Oh, wow, that would be MAJOR! Sending good vibes for whatever is supposed to happen for you and your family. You'd be less than 8 hours drive from me though if you were in Witchita! The closest of anyone I think! Smiler

Thanks for your support. This has been such a crazy week for my family because my husband has been expecting to hear which promotion he will get and one of them means a major cross-country move for us. If he doesn't get the job he is a major contender for, he has the option of creating a new position of equal significance at the home office in Witchita, KS. We have known about that opportunity for months, but we haven't had the go-ahead to pursue it, but not getting this local step up would lead us in the other direction.
In the phone interview I had Monday, I was up front with the doctor about our situation, which he ended up really appreciating - infact I think he was impressed with my integrity. But he wants to make his choice by tomorrow, so what I have to do today is get him to still consider me and meet me, despite the fact that my husband still has not had the CALL.

Please do pray for us today - so many things are in the balance and the waiting is getting very stressful. The flipside is that its pretty cool that we will soon be out of our wait-mode.
Thanks!

Laura, I'm sorry to hear it isn't going as planned but I fully agree with your advisor that you know now that this is what you love and now it's just a matter of making it happen. Hope your classes finish up successfully and that you are on the road at the U asap.

Jill, I'm happy to take a look too. My email is p7eggyc<at>aol.com. I could look at it tonight or it'll be the weekend before I get back to it.

Jill: I'd be happy to take a look too if you want multiple sets of eyes. I'm not going to be good about knowing what should be in your resume because, as previously noted, I've never worked in the private sector, but I am an editor for a living (though it's for regulations) so I could hit it from another angle if you like.

After doing some more research, it looks like I stay where I am for a few more years. Apparently, I am not as employable as I was led to believe come end of 2007. So, I am getting ready to move to the U come fall and start (almost) from square 1.

This isn't quite what I had in mind, but it's probably best that I found out now, rather than down the road. My advisor reminded me that sometimes you just have to do what you just have to do, and if I love what I'm learning, then I'm still a step or two ahead.

I wasn't expecting this when I found out that the U wouldn't transfer any of my classes at my current school.... I have zero motivation to bother with one of my classes, am overwhelmed and feeling tons of pressure to pull out an A to get the one class to count at the U, and am on the fence about my third class.

I wonder if this is how lame duck presidents feel...what's the point????

Now, the rational side of me knows that I'll learn some valuable stuff... but still...

I was a little paranoid about posting my answer from work, so I waited till I got home.

It was a pretty short discussion, but that's a good thing. The recruiter still had all her notes from our first conversation, so she just wanted to update a few things, find out what's been going on since then, etc. Said she was really glad I "resurfaced" because she thought I'd be a good fit with the organization. So the next step is to set up in-person interviews with the hiring manager. Stay tuned!

Hey, Lynne, I'm glad to see you back, too, even if it's not for the happiest of reasons.

Here's hoping it gives you the chance to find something you're really interested in.
