Thanks BrenauMom! I am always looking for this kind of information to put in a cookbook I am putting together for my friends. It will be put together almost like a scrapebook of sorts and have some information the older cookbooks use to put in them but not any more.
Keep in mind that this chart is only a guide and and available produce varies for different parts of the county.
That reminds me of a silly TV commercial. It showed a bunch of people in a snow covered field, digging away with snow shovels. Then the camera revealed a sign: "Pick Your Own Iceberg Lettuce". I guess you had to see it.

You are right. This is what they say at the beginning of the list:
"Food purchased during its peak season will be less expensive and much tastier. The following is a sample of fruits and vegetables in season each month. Keep in mind that this chart is only a guide and and available produce varies for different parts of the county. Use this as a guide to your menu planning and produce purchasing:"

Actually, it really depends on where you live, because I looked at this list, and some of the things that they say are in season for some months aren't even close.....for instance, they say asparagus is in season in May....here where I live the asparagus you get in May is generally coming from cold storage. Our asparagus season is very short...mid-march to early-April. So this isn't necessarily a conclusive list, but it is a general guideline for colder parts of the country, I think.
Blessings,
Lori
