Howdy all. Hope that everyone had a good weekend. There is no way that I'm going to be able to read through the posts I missed so I'm just starting fresh today.

We had a great time in Chicago despite the rainy weather. DD loved everything and did fairly well. We walked a bit too much for her but she held her own until the very last day where she had a meltdown in the last store we needed to stop at. She's still recovering today and had a meltdown this morning but hopefully her behavior will improve when she gets some more rest.

As for me, I got in my exercise although not as much as I had hoped. My ankle is still really bothering me so I only did two, 5 K runs (plus the weather wasn't very condusive to being outdoors) and then lifted two days.

The food piece was OK. I basically stuck to my plan that I had posted but still felt like I ate a few too many sweets (even though I did share everything). I did have two days where I had extra wine. I only had one dessert that I didn't share and that was mostly blueberries. Everything else got split 3 ways and I did my best to eat slowly so I had less than my share.

I do have to say that my stomach is not feeling the best though. I'm very bloated and just "off". I decided not to weigh in until Wednesday to give my body some time to go back to normal.

I'll post my plan for today and tomorrow in the "what's for dinner" thread which I really need to do. We immediately came home to some stress and this week is going to be crazy so I want to stay on plan.

That's a total bummer Lynne : (

If you are near NYC, I'd recommend anyone of the many museums (especially the Museum of Natural History for kids), Bronx Zoo, the circle line boat cruises around the city and up the Hudson. You can get a wheel chair at the museum and zoo so your child doesn't have to walk and the boat is obviously sitting down.

Denise, that all sounds so great! Glad you had fun and that the food issues were minimal! Smiler

My vaca this week has been sidetracked by a trip to the er last night for my youngest who crunched her foot. Not broken but severely bonked, requiring crutches for atleast a week. So much for Six Flags and parasailing in NY state this week! Frowner We are scrambling to put together a less-walking-but-still-fun getaway. Any ideas? We still have the week off!

Welcome back, Bee! I'm back too. I just did a search and there have been 724 posts since I left... Eeker

I am not going to even attempt to catch up!!!

We had a good time. We went to a family camp… and I was not really wild about going… but it turned out fine. It was hot (about 102), but they had shade and misters so I got “Poisonwood Bible” read while I was there. Smiler

The family camp didn’t spend a lot of $$$ on food… it was a little better than hospital cafeteria food… so I didn’t gain any weight. (I swear that they took a box of sponges and put them in the waffle iron and served them… My family are not exactly gourmets… and we are not terribly picky about our waffles… but we all threw ours away…) But, EVERY meal DID have loads of fresh fruit and there was mini salad bar at every lunch and dinner, so I didn’t go hungry… but nothing was, “OMG!! That was sooooo yummy, I MUST have seconds!” It was very easy to eat a reasonable portions… and not gain. Smiler

Family camp was well organized and did spend $$$ on staff and expensive toys (swimming pools, jet skis, ski boats, ropes course, rifle range, mini bikes, go carts, scrapbooks and other crafts…) DS fell in love with the 22 rifles and the mini bikes and basket ball courts… I went water skiing 4 times and I was really happy with how my knee held up Big Grin… but I didn’t fall or wipe out either. Ds learned to water ski, which was very cool! And we went on a wonderful white water rafting trip. I did my best to stay near (or in) the water. Smiler

I went and spent 2 days with my parents and had a great visit with my mom and also saw Lori4SquareMom. (Or as Lori puts it… I came to town to see HER and it is very convenient that my mom lives in the same town Big Grin.)

Lori and I had coffee for 2.5 hours. We were going to try the toffee bars so that we could report back (was it Lisa in WI or WindyCity that was addicted to them?). But, we got sidetracked by a brownie that was covered with peanut butter frosting, caramel and peanuts… so we split that…

So it was a good trip!

Hi, Brie. Welcome back!

I agree with everyone else. Sticking to your plan during vacation deserves extra, extra points. It's not something that I've mangaged to do well. Congrats!

Welcome back, Bee. I am glad that you all had a good time. I am struck with the fact that you stayed mostly on plan and that you remained aware of choices. Great job and great example.
I hope you dd is back to herself soon. I always find that travel with a child takes extra time, care and that "re-entry" can be a challenge.
P.S. We still avoid more than short shops with dd. It just works better that way. We sort of work it out telling her that we'll spend 20 minutes shopping and then time to do a park or whatever. This saves on my stress.

Summer Goal:
Eat Sitting Down

Only two 5k's and some lifting, she said.... I'll be happy with one! I'm going to get myself a pedometer today so I know atleast how far and fast I go on a run. Glad to have you here again Smiler

Welcome back, Brie. Sounds like you had a great time. And congrats on sticking to your plan.

I've lived through my share of vacation meltdowns from DS, so you have my sympathy. I'm sure you'll all be back to normal in no time!
