As many of you that have been around for awhile know, I have been on two mission trips to Honduras.
I think this is making national news, but 3 people died in a truck accident a couple of days ago on a mission trip to Honduras. They were there with different churches, but it was through the same organization Honduras Outreach, Inc.
Having been there, I can completely "get" how it could have happened. I was really upset upon hearing the news, for the group that was there, for the families of the deceased, and for the organization, because I think this could really hurt future mission trips, and it is a great organization doing really great things.
Well, today I found out that the Honduran leader of both of my trips was involved in the accident, and it crushed both of his legs. Crushed legs are serious anywhere, but more so there than here, because of the level of medical care.
His name is Lucas, and he is a really remarkable individual who has devoted his life to helping his fellow country men.
I'm just asking if you'd say a prayer for everyone involved, and particularly for Lucas. I fear that if Lucas loses his legs or his abilty to walk and in the end not work, that he will be devestated emotionally as much or more than economically.
Thank you. Dawn

Dawn, I want you to know I am thinking and praying for Lucas and everyone else. If you all are doing anything local, like sending cards, etc... Let me know I will be happy to do whatever I can.

Dawn, I will definitely be praying, and will pass this along to our local homeschool community prayer chain as well as my church's prayer chain. Please keep us updated as you get any updates!
Blessings,
Lori

Dawn, I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope Lucas recovers fully and quickly.
It is a particularly gut-wrenching and helpless feeling when you know someone involved in a tragedy that gets national, even international, media attention. One of my college friends died in the plane crash that killed Ron Brown, Clinton's Commerce Secretary. It's still hard to think about.
Sorry to hear about Lucas and the others. My thoughts and prayers are with you and them.

Goals: 1. Stop thinking like a chronic dieter and start living to inspire. 2. HALT (hungry, anxious, lonely, tired) I will stop and tune in with myself should I experience these things, and respond with something healthy. 3. One word 2008: courage 4. Eat slow and mindfully.
