Today is the first time I have been back to WW since getting sick three weeks ago. I've pretty much kicked the bugs, but, eating was not something that was a high priority while I was sick. So I drank most of my meals in OJ, chicken soup, and smoothies....all very nutritous but not exactly on program. This week is the first week I've had food that was really food, and I did take advantage of it. I'll take what I get, because I am just happy to be getting well, but I have to remember that I WAS sick, and not get psyched out by the numbers. There is always tomorrow.

Wow, Cathy! That's really great news to see! Congrats!

Yes, many people got blind sided by illness this winter, it's almost scarey to go to the doc's or even the pharmacy for fear of catching something else. Although I am on the mend....it hangs on, and finally threatened my doc to give me a cough syrup to sleep by...

But, on a good note, my fears of weighing in were for naught. I lost 2.8 and am within .4 of getting 10% of my original weight off, AND I weigh less now than when I delivered my second son 20 years ago. Lowest point thus far. I can't tell you what an upper that was. But to do it sick, is not my idea of a healthy way to live. I hope once I start eating on program again, it doesn't come back.

Wow, hope you girls feel better soon! I know my sis had the upper respiratory flu for almost 2 weeks! I am (knock wood) lucky and have not gotten sick.

Cathy,
I wouldn't worry too much. Sounds like you ate/drank the "make me feel better" foods/drinks. Hope you feel better and hope your weigh-in is good!

Jill

there is definitely something strong hanging around. here,so many people have been terribly ill for weeks.

Goals:
1. Stop thinking like a chronic dieter and start living to inspire.
2. HALT (hungry, anxious, lonely, tired) I will stop and tune in with myself should I experience these things, and respond with something healthy.
3. One word 2008: courage
4. Eat slow and mindfully.

I've been really sick for the past week too (acute bronchitis), but I have had nausea so bad for most of it that I haven't been able to eat much of anything. I did finally go buy some Rice-a-Roni because I figured I might be able to get that down and I needed something more substantial to eat than Saltines.

Personal Healthy Habits Challenge - 10/1 to 12/31/08:
1. Exercise: Get back to consistently working out 3-5 X week.
2. Food: Get back to consistently preparing healthy lunches for the week with increased veg servings.
3. Behavior: Reduce intake of sweets.

Both of you take care! Seems like things have been lingering way too long.

Might as well use this as a jumping off point for a WI thread since I'm in the same boat as Cathy. Except that I've only been sick for 10 days. I've slept thru meals... and then been starving and overate. And it wasn't always nutritious... As Nelson brought home PF Chang’s one night… which lasted us a couple of days. And virtually NO activity.

But have been feeling better the past couple days. First night that I slept all night in a week plus.

But I’m 1 lb up out of range. I don’t think that it is water weight. Oh well, back on track.

Hope you are feeling better, Cathy.
