Today is going to be a challenge for me. Yesterday was a particularly ugly day, with homemade pizza and real ice cream being a lot too prevalent in my eating plan for the day.

I can narrow it down to stress over the job situation, not feeling so well (summer head cold), and not enough sleep.

So your homework for today is to move past the Father's Day splurges (or weekend splurges) and post a plan to keep yourself on track to undo any damage that may have been done. Accountability will help that repair work go easier (and faster).

I overindulged in strawberry shortcake this weekend (with fresh local berries) but it was really good.

Today I am doing well. Used my CSA bounty (way more veggies than I thought we'd get) to make a frittata, a great salad, and then made some really good roasted potatoes to go with it for dinner.

I have been on a slippery slope today and Sunday. My calories have been about 200-300 over where I need to be. Yesterday, my friend had BBQ chips out. I had one and kept picking until I have eating about 10-15 chips. This was not terrible as I would have loved to have had most of the bowl, but I need a CLEAN day tomorrow and on through the week.
Here is my plan for tomorrow. Write food and enter in onto fitday.
I will also post my food tomorrow AM
Thanks for the push!

I didn't really have a Father's Day splurge either. My DS is at Grandma and Grandpa's and both Grandma and Grandpa will be here next weekend, so we're doing Father's day then.

I did go out to dinner w/DH. However, I had "fish in a bag", which was fish, herbs and veggies baked in parchment paper. Very light and healthy.

No Father's Day splurges here but I did have a day-after-Father's-Day splurge. It was purposeful and yummy but I am not used to being that full anymore. Whew!

I had a 1/2 rack of outstanding BBQ baby back ribs, some fries, a salad w/balsamic on the side and an orange spice iced tea at American Cafe. They put a mini-loaf of freshly-baked white crusty bread on the table and I left it there without taking a bite--proud of that cuz white crusty bread is a weakness of mine. I felt like I was in foodie heaven, I tell ya! Wink

So, my plan for moving past my foodie heaven splurge:

1. Make sure to get my 5 days of exercise this week.

2. Make lunches light and veggie-heavy.

3. Do my best to be better about avoiding salty worknight dinners this week (sodium levels were "out there" too much last week).

Personal Healthy Habits Challenge - 10/1 to 12/31/08:
1. Exercise: Get back to consistently working out 3-5 X week.
2. Food: Get back to consistently preparing healthy lunches for the week with increased veg servings.
3. Behavior: Reduce intake of sweets.

My goal this week is to get on that treadmill for 30 minutes at least four times.

I am also stepping back to what I was doing in January/February because it worked, KD's granola and fresh fruit for snacks. And more importantly, I've posted a sign on my refrigerator that says, "What's done is done. LET IT GO!!!"

Thanks, Laura!

We also celebrated both Father's Day and dd's birthday this past weekend.

I had a really good workout on Saturday (multiple hours) so I got in my exercise. I ate reasonably well on Saturday as we had a lobster bake - I had a lobster, no butter; 1/2 an ear of corn on the cob and some steamers. I did have some hors d'ourves but didn't over do it too much. I did indulge in dessert though.

Sunday I practiced the art of portion control. I did well in the morning by avoiding the croissants and just having whole grain bread but the ball game was a bit tougher. I had a beer, a tossed salad (dressing on the side) and then split an order of small onion rings with dh and dd. We then split one ice cream. We were back to "normal" eating at dinner time.

This coming week, I'll be working out M - TH and then we leave for a long weekend vacation. I'm taking workout clothes and my sneakers so I'll workout while we are away.

I have my food planned for the week and don't think that there will be too much temptation while we are away this time. I do have my June "splurge" day saved for this coming Friday though just in case.

Since Father's day is not a day we do a BIG deal out of, it was a normal weekend for me.
But, I do need to set some priorities and stick with them.

1. Keep up that journal, don't get behind. Wendies plan for me...and stick with it. Post it up on the board.

2. Swimming on off days of PT. Get the exercises from the Pt for the rest of my swimming for my shoulder.

3. Carry that water bottle with me wherever I go.

It's never too late to get it right.

It was both DH's birthday and Father's Day. I made him a "Mississippi Mud Cake" from the Small Batch Baking cookbook, so we each had only one piece. But now there are leftover chocolate chips and marshmallows haunting my cabinets.

So I made sure I worked out Saturday, Sunday and this morning (rowing practice, treadmill run and Firm tape, respectively). And I've packed my lunch and snacks for today. They are safely tucked away in the office fridge till I need them. Which will be in about 30 minutes!

I've got a three step plan in place.

1. Slow down and let my body be sick.

2. Keep up my journaling and other stress coping mechanisms while I wait to hear on 2 jobs.

3. Sleep. Rest. Let my body fight off whatever it is that I have and not tax it to the point where it can't fight off the bug.

4. Get back into my normal eating patterns as soon as possible. And throw in some gentle exercise today.
