the night before Halloween, and candy is on sale 1/2 price. Do you stock up or do you pass it by?

Moderation is a good thing if you can handle it....can you, I can't with somethings. AND chocolate is one of them. What is the one thing you can't or don't seem to be able to have even in moderation, how do you handle it when it's available?

What do you do with the left over candy on Tuesday? Do you stash it away in the freezer, do you send it to the office, or take it with you to work? AND what about the treats that are going to start to show up at work with the holidays. How are you going to deal with those?

Just thoughts of the season.....we need to have plans before the lack of plans hits us in the face.

Talk about it!

Cathy

I'm buying the candy today. At Costco. Apparently there is usually quite a lineup of kids in my neighborhood... and it takes a couple of bags of candy.

Maybe a thing of some fruit candy, and a box of variety of full-size bars. I'd like to do Heath bars too, but those are addictive to me.

I do not too much trouble avoiding the candy. My weakness is the chocolate bars. Therefor I did not but any this year.

I have quick and easy homemade pizzas in the freezer that my hubby and daughters will eat early and I can eat when my daycare kids go home, in between giving out the candy.

As for leftovers, I try hard not to have them, I tend to recycle a good portion of the treats my daughter collects to the older kids that always come later on in the evening.

Enjoy every minute!

Jennifer

Goals for April: Exercise 3 times a week. Drink more water everyday.

Long Term Goal: Weigh-in at 180 lbs by my next Birthday. (Sept-13/06)

Smiler Candy has never been a problem for me. Although I love chocolate, I love it best in cake or brownie form. If they gave out cake or brownies for halloween, I would probably be the first one out there with my bag!! I avoid the problem of overindulgence by not having it in my house.

I haven't bought our candy yet.

I'm going to check out Smart and Final and I'm thinking of giving out packets of microwave popcorn. Might put them in Halloween snack bags to dress them up or tie them with black and orange curly ribbon or something. A packet of popcorn will sound substantial when thrown in a kids sack. And leftovers will be no problem at all. Smiler

I throw tempting food and candy away. I don't feel bad tossing candy.

I don't like sending it to Nelson's work. The teachers lounge ALWAYS has plenty of "treats". I can't think of one single teacher or staff member who needs more calories.

We are having soup for dinner tomorrow.

I might make miniture apple pies for dessert...

Whether frozen or unfrozen, treats can be put into zip lock bags and sealed with box tape, duct tape, or even staples. The harder it is to get at, the less the chance of "inventory shortages".

I love it! Gave me a big smile, cause you know sometimes even putting it in the trunk of my car isn't enough for some foods. I'll be right back, gotta go get some duct tape.

I feel confident today, but know that tomorrow will have its downfalls and that is part of the process.

My classroom party is where I have problems. The kids REALLY want you to eat with them...there are a few healthy options coming (funny that parents didn't jump to sign up for those healthier choices) so I should be ok.

The candy at home is no biggy since I bought things I can leave alone. I, too, am making a healthy pizza tomorrow night just in case the candy calls my name.

Good luck to all. I can't wait to see how we all faired come TuesdaySmiler

Kat

Goal:
Exercise at least 3 times per week.

Remember the positives.

Get the munchies under control!

I have all the candy I need for tomorrow. Dd will keep a few chocalate bars to eat and the rest in the basement freeze.

P.S. I am having one of my favorite healthed up meals tomorrow night (pizza) so that I feel full, satisfied and am less tempted to snack in the afternoon.
I have a good lunch planned too.

Chocolate used to be the one thing I could not leave alone but now it causes me extreme pain (due to IBS) so I have no problem keeping it to rare indulgences. Even then it has to have been made with cocoa powder (not solid chocolate) and not eaten on an empty stomach.

This is the first time in 5 years that we are expecting to have any kids come to our door. Mother's house is on a dead end street with only 7 houses at the end of it and you can't see any of them from the cross street so we never get any kids there.

We have bought 2 bags of small candy bars for dd to give out here at the apartment but we made it a point to buy the kind neither one of us likes.

I definitely pass it by... Towards the end of the night tomorrow I start becoming excessively generous to the kids giving them handfuls of candy if I feel like we have too much. That seems to help a lot. I usually send the extras to my husbands office. I am curently on maternity leave and eating is a huge temptation when I am at home so it is best to have it out of here. If there is leftover kept here I will hide it - out of sight out of mind works pretty well for me.
