I love, love, love KD's plum chutney... and I know how KD loves cilantro... and how much she LOVES to use up fruit that is a little past peak.
So, I made up a cocktail last night that I dedicate to KD.
The KD Margarita
A. make ice tea. Use the following, and then let it get cold (or make it get cold with ice)
1 black tea bag 1 mint tea bag 1 cup boiling water
B. Put in blender and whirl: tea from above (no tea bags) about 4-5 ice cubes 3 plums (pitted but not peeled) (Don't accidently whirl a plum pit in the blender... although it won't WRECK the margarita... it is probably better pitless (guess how I know). ) 1/4 c. of orange juice concentrate from the freezer juice from half a juicy lemon 1 oz tequilla 1/2 oz triple sec
Pour into a jelly jar (since it LOOKS like plum jam). If desired, coat the rim with a mixture of sugar and salt.
Chiffonade up 1 mint leaf and 2 cilantro leaves and put into glass. Don't chiffonade them. It will be like grass clippings in your drink... unless you are LOOKING for the "Weed Wacker Margarita". Just throw them in the blender with everything else.
****** note this is a recipe in progress... I didn't actually put the liquor in it last night, since I had already had one margarita and decided to switch over to virgin blender drinks. (The first margarita might explain how a plum pit got into the blender with this one).
I also didn't put the cilantro in there... but it sounds both yummy and weird to me...

but I figure if a margarita can be made with basil... you can make one with cilantro. (Although, I would NOT whirl picked onion into it... )
Some classic KD "morphs"
I also think that it would be good with rum... sort of like a KD Plum Mojito. Or vodka... like a KD Plum Cosmo.
I also think that it would be awesome with peaches... use what ever fruit is going bad on the counter (or in my case, in the back yard).
I'd work on the recipes and do some more testing... but it is only 10am here... Would be needing a different kind of meeting besides WW.
Also thought, "Wow... I think I'll stop having fruit smoothies in the afternoon... and start getting my fruit servings in margaritas". But probably not a good idea in the long run...

LOL, now I have a visual of seeing that on a drink menu. Maybe that's how they can market frufru drinks to "manly men", "The Weed Whacker Margarita" for the Manly Man.

Made one with rum last night... was very good. Mint and fruit really is a winning combo. And actually, the cilantro was good, too. Who would have thought?
