For your homework today, tell someone you love how much you value them: hug your kids; kiss your S.O.; call your parents; or snuggle your pooch or kitty.
And then give someone else an unexpected compliment: tell someone at work that they've been doing a good job; tell a friend that you like her new haircut; tell a neighbor how nice their home looks; or thank someone at the store for providing you with friendly service.
Then take some time to think about how making someone else feel valued makes you feel about yourself!

I wrote my official notification email today to announce my intention to retire on May 31. Even though everyone already knows that I'm leaving then, this official email is necessary for personnel purposes, to get the ball rolling on the paperwork.
In my email, I thanked my supervisor and his supervisor for their extraordinary flexibility and trust in allowing me to work from home in my final months before retirement. I also thanked my staff for their patience in dealing with a team leader who is trying to lead from 130 miles away and for doing such a great job in supporting me and with the customers.

A co-worker I did not know but who saw a request for help I made in a blog at work (we have "work" blogs for discussing ideas & problems) came up to see & meet with me yesterday and teach me about a system that's brand new and that I think will greatly increase my team's productivity.
I read your homework and drafted an e-mail to him, his supervisor, and my supervisor, thanking him for his time, professionalism, and expertise.
Challenge Goals: *10 minutes of unplanned exercise five times a week *Gym time twice a week *Socialize at least once every two weeks.
Last night, DH and I had a long talk (the latest in a series) about my job situation. He always has good insights for me, and he's very patient with my indecisiveness. So I made a point of telling him how much I appreciated his help. Thanks for a timely reminder, Alli!
