My mom has always said....Everything in moderation. If we lived our lives eating small amounts of all of the stuff we like, we wouldn't have obesity. I once heard Dr. Weil say something like "God made all of the food groups for a reason and never expected anyone to just pick one of them to live on." Our bodies need a little bit of everything!

My problem has always been the moderation part and trying to figure out what food group Tiramisu fits into?????!!!!!
I agree!! did you ever get the e-mail that said God made.... it list regular foods and then comes satan and we have McDonalds and ice cream .... Then we get fat and now we have to have expensive gym memberships and such. It was real cute. I'll have to see if me friend can find it as I am sure I deleted mine.

I posted that email a week or two ago on the forum.

www.MyPyramid.com DOES have a food group for that. It is called "discretional calories" or something like that.

We all get a certain amount of calories that are ours to do whatever we want with. Smiler

Different Pyramids give different amounts. The Mayo Clinic Pyramid only gives about 75 cals a day, but the USDA pyramid gives about 130+. Smiler

"In fact, the results of the study, the Women's Health Initiative (WHI), were actually more complex—as all these articles explained to readers who got beyond the headlines."

That's another problem, the intellectual laziness of headlines-only-readers.

Goal: Stop stress snacking.
