I just want to put in another plug for using pedometers.

You can get them for as little as $2 at Walmart and I find them very motivating.

Not only do you know how many steps you actually have walked, especially just over the course of normal every day activities, but I find that when I'm wearing one, I want to add more steps to the day.

I'm less likely to sit down to do something that I could otherwise do standing up and I set little challenges for myself throughout the day.

This week's challenge is to hit 10,000 before lunch. I strength trained today and was only at 9700 so I jogged around my house a couple of times to hit the target number before I started lunch.

I find it fun to do these mini-challenges.

just got mine in the mail from my mom....trying to track my steps today...almost 7000 but that doesn't count nordic track time and the day isn't over..right?? I think 10,000 is the goal 'they' set for optimal...i put mine on my pants pocket by the way. I think it isn't 100% accurate but probably evens out. This one talks...yippee...I turned that feature off. Nothing like being in target and have a computer voice shout out..."You have walked 2000 steps lol. amy

I've also read that you can wear it on your back waistband. You might try it and see how accurate it is. I also had better luck attaching it to my underwear waistband when I was wearing something less solid that would tend to tip over instead of holding it upright.

Try to clip it inside your front pant pocket Cathy. That seems to work too.

Here's my problem with every pedometer I've used thus far. You have to clip it to your waist band to have it function best. Well, if you have a waist that rather doubles over your waist band the pedometer doesn't work right, and you get a false reading. So I am still looking for a place to put it that it will stay in place and not fall off, still recording accurately. Looking for suggestions.

It's never too late to get it right.
