Well, I am home and the breast reduction is done. Stitches still in, and I am very sore and bruised. Plus, I still have the staples in my foot from the bunion surgery. Stitches and staples all come out this week. The reduction took out 9.8 pounds from my chest and midriff area, and even with the swelling, I look better. I can move around the house OK; I can type slowly, I can turn my head and the old appetite is coming back. Taking in mostly fluids and some light food, lots of vitamins. I will look and feel better in a few more days, they tell me. I came home with only a few bandages and no drain tubes. I am on my way. The surgery is one more step in the right direction.

Nancy,

Best of luck healing. What I remember most from my own breast reduction was being so very thirsty for about a month afterward. And waking up in post op complaining to the nurse that my feet hurt, and her saying "Well, honey, that's sure not what they operated on!"

Vitamin E put right on the incision will help reduce the scarring, too.

Nancy,
As one who has been there (well, without the bunion sugery anyway!), I promise it will be worth it and the worst is past. All downhill from here! I can't remember for sure but I'm pretty sure my reduction was in that approaching 10 lb amount too. Still amazes me when I think of it! Keep doing all the things you are doing to take care of you!

Welcome back and wishing you a quick recovery.

I know people who have had this surgery and they are all glad that they did (once they were healed a little).
