I want to make some today using ww flour. I know that we discussed this earlier, but I can't remember if anyone had success with ww flour! Please advise.
What I do use the oven for is my pita bread. I'll find the recipe and post it for you.
Lori, I would love your pita bread recipe! Do you bake your own sandwich type breads as well? I have attempted a few times with ww flour only, but the dough never got really elastic. I am open to suggestions.
I've done the flatbread with whole wheat flour, it comes out a little heavier texture. Next batch I'll probably try a mixture.
As far as cooking it, i use my contact grill (like a Foreman). Mine can open all the way so you can use both sides like a grill. Its worked great for me that way.

Maybe you aren't supermom, but it sounds like you work really hard to serve your family in a great way and I would like to give you a cyber-pat-on-the-back. It is a great thing that you are doing.
Oh, and another flatbread question. I looked up an old thread about the flatbread and you said that you do it in the oven. I did mine on the stove. When you do the oven what temp and how long do you do it? I don't have a pizza stone. Do you?

Flylady is incredible! My house is SOOO different than what it used to be! Before we moved (in May 2004) my house was a wreck....looked like something from "Clean Sweep", not just one or two rooms, but EVERY room....anyhow, I was never really able to implement flylady principles in that house. Just didn't know where to start and I would get depressed everytime I thought about it. SO, when it came time to move, I KNEW that things HAD to be different here, and we WERE NOT moving 1/2 of the stuff we had. I had a goal to get rid of 50% of the stuff in our old house. I exceeded that goal! Including 2 cars, and a lot of "garage" stuff, we got rid of over 3 TONS of stuff before we moved, and the weight of our belongings in the moving truck was just under 3 tons! How neat is that Anyhow, I am (for the most part) able to keep the house in a presentable condition at most times (no more than 10 minutes away from presentable) now, which is wonderful!
Thank you so much for the cyber-pat on the back! I really appreciate it, and I DO take my job as wife and mom very seriously, and I give it my all. (just have to say, it didn't used to be that way, either).
About the flatbread. I do mine on the stove. I like the control that I have on the stovetop. I think it might be Sandy that does it in the oven. What I do use the oven for is my pita bread. I'll find the recipe and post it for you. It is wonderful! And if you have your baking sheet (I do use my flat pizza stone) and oven hot enough, they puff beautifully to form a pocket. If they don't form the pocket, I just use them as a wrap.
Blessings,
Lori

Actually, Kathy, I don't post on the board very often at all compared to what I used to. During the summer months, it used to be that you would see me active in the majority of the threads. I barely read anything anymore. I scan the board once or twice a day and post on what I am able to, but realistically, I'm usually at the board 10-20 minutes per day. On the computer for a total of about 2 hours per day at the most(a lot of that time is spent flychatting....that's how I keep my house clean ). Since school has started this year, I feel like I have really neglected the board, but this IS my job (to be wife, mom, and teacher), and I do take it very seriously!
Hey, how is your school year going?
Believe me, I'm not a supermom. And dh and I realized this past week as we were going through our weekly schedule to fit in play rehearsals for him and our middle daughter that "we have no life". Other than church on Sunday and AWANA on Wed, and my bible study on Tues, we don't do anything else. But our family is in tact, they are happy, healthy, and we all LOVE our family time! This week, my oldest daughter was gone a lot babysitting, and she told me yesterday afternoon (just before heading off for another babysitting job) that she is really missing us.
Blessings,
Lori

Thank you! I made this today but went ahead and used unbleached all purpose flour since it was my first time to make it and I did it before I read your posts. The bread was wonderful and dd couldn't get enough.
And Lori, I don't know how you do it all. It sounds like you cook up a storm alot, along with homeschooling, and you post on the board so often too! Since we have started up with school I have had to do so much less of everything else. You go supermom!
I make this recipe at least twice a week using ww flour, it is also awesome using ww and rye! This recipe is great, and extremely versatile. I have also used McCormick's salt-free garlic and herb seasoning in it, as well as mexican spices, and rosemary and garlic. WONDERFUL!
Blessings,
Lori

I regularly substitie ww flour for white and have done this with the flatbreads. If you are new to working with ww, you might want to to going half and half until you get a feel for the flour, taste and texture. P.S. I have been using KA White Whole Wheat and my family loves it.
