If they are ripe, you can slice them kind of diagonally, so they are a little long and fry them. They will be sweet.
If they are not ripe you can, as Isabel suggested, make tostones. You slice them in circles, fry about half way and then smash them and then fry them the rest of the way.
Plantains can also be baked, but my family in Venezuela rarely did that, so I don't remember for how long. Green or small plantains can also be boiled, but they taste nasty so I don't recommend it.

you can make tostones (i am sure you can google a recipe). you can also bake them with guava jelly in between (slice of plantain, guava jelly, slice of plantain). panamanians eat boiled plaintain with rice for breakfast.
