Does anyone have a suggestion for a good wheat or multigrain bread? I've been finding that all the ones that I've tried are too sweet and I don't really like them. I uesd to get a yummy sourdough wheat from a bakery, but I've moved away and the bakery is too far to drive to on a regular basis.

I use the Peperidge Farm German Dark Wheat that Dawn mentions below. I love it, especially with a little peanut butter on it. Very filling, 90 calories a slice and 12% of your intake of Fiber.

The brand I like is Aunt Hattie's. But I *think* it's only available in Arizona.

UPDATE - Indeed, they're made in 3 bakeries in Phoenix, and distributed throughout the state:

I usually get the 9 grain. And no, not because it's named for Sedona. Wink

I found Peperidge Farm's German Dark Wheat this weekend. I haven't tried it yet, but I'll let you know. Dark breads usually aren't as sweet.

I just tried Pepperidge Farm's 9 grain and liked it. It has some rye flour and is not sweet. I am not sure if you are near a Whole Foods, but my latest favorite is the multi grain that is labeled "low carb or Atkins friendly"--- basically it means that there are loads of whole grains and little to no refined white flour- it is quite good and has a great texture- pricey, though. (Many of the other "multi grains" have lots of white flour.)

I like the Roman Meal whole wheat very much. There is also one called Country Hearth Lite ww that is also tasty and less caloric.
