Just finished watching Flicka. Be sure you have tissues handy . It stars Alison Lohman, Maria Bello and Tim McGraw and is a very good movie, especially if you like horses.

I think that this movie is less partisan than any of his other movies. The Democrats don't have a good record on this issue either. Both sides of the aisle have gotten a lot of campaign cash from the insurance companies, so change on this issue will be pretty difficult.

We went to see Live Free or Die Hard. I just love Bruce Willis. This movie certainly isn't an Oscar contender, but if you like the Die Hard series - it's exactly what you would expect and want from the movie. Mel

Watching my Shetland Sheepdog sleep is way better than anything on TV.

I saw Michael Moore's "Sicko" last night. It had a different feel than his other films -- less over-the-top, more heartbreaking (even than "Bowling for Columbine.") It did have its funny moments, but it was mostly a call to action. It does a good job of proving that the healthcare system in this country is in desperate need of reform.

I recently saw Stranger Than Fiction and it was great. Very funny and several twists to it. Last weekend we watched a really old Peter O'Toole movie called High Spirits and laughed all the way thru it. (got it from Netflix). Oh, and went to the theatre and saw the third Pirates movie .

Sheri - I think you'll really like Song and Lyrics. It's very cute and funny and the throw back stuff from the 80s is just hysterical. Fairly predictable romantic comedy but great fun.

Brie, we are very much on the same wavelength! Two of the TV shows you mentioned are my current favorites and, of the two movies you mentioned, one I watched weekend before last and the other just arrived in the mail from Netflix to watch this weekend! I enjoyed Little Children--it is a strange but intriguing movie, and so well acted. I plan to watch either Music & Lyrics or Notes on a Scandal this weekend. I've already seen Notes in the theatre (LOVED it!) so I may go for Music, which I've not seen yet. Last weekend, I watched Sherrybaby on DVD. It too was very well acted (Maggie Gylenhaal is amazing) but it is a very downer type of story. Not weepy, just heartbreaking. In addition to Hell's Kitchen, I'm also trying to keep up with two OTHER reality cooking shows--Top Chef and The Next Food Network Star. I also love the TV show Little People, Big World on TLC but don't always remember to watch it.

Right now on TV, I'm enjoying Hell's Kitchen, So You Think You Can Dance and all the expo shows on HGTV. We are very behind the times in movies. The last movies we watched were Music and Lyrics and Little Children on DVD (liked them both!). As for music, I'm currently enjoying an 80s techno music revival - It Takes Two, Get Up Get Busy, etc... : )

I'm anxiously awaiting the release of "Friday Night Lights" (the TV show) season 1 DVD, because it's simply the best network television show I've ever watched. We're waiting for Season 1 of "The Wire" to be available at our Hollywood Video because we'd like to see that. As for on-right-now--we really enjoy "Big Love" on HBO. And I try to catch "What Not to Wear" on Friday nights; "Shaq's Big Challenge" is now on the *watch* list, too.
Challenge Goals: *10 minutes of unplanned exercise five times a week *Gym time twice a week *Socialize at least once every two weeks.

I think we're going to the new Michael Moore movie tonight and maybe dinner out (we have a gift card). "Sicko" is about the health care industry and I'm really curious to see it.
