Dd adored Charlotte's Web. I cried my eyes out! I don't do very well with children's movies in general.

We saw Blood Diamond the other day. Very intense, very violent but extremely well done.

I just watched Charlotte's Web on DVD rental. Amazingly sweet and visually beautiful, I really enjoyed it even though I haven't been a kid in a LONG time. Smiler

And of course it is weepy toward the end and when the credits roll, they play Sarah McLachlan singing "Ordinary Miracle." I LOVE Sarah and had already seen/heard her sing the song on Oprah. When I heard it again within the context of the movie, it touched me so deeply.

The extras on the DVD are fun, too. I was born in the year E.B. White wrote the book of Charlotte's Web and I had never read it (at least not to my memory) so it was a fresh story for me whereas, for most of you (or your children), it probably seemed like a familiar friend.

Rest of Summer Goals:
1. Exercise-Cardio: Min. 2-3 walking or DVD cardio workouts per week.
2. Exercise-Weights/Toning: Min. 1 weight plus 1 toning workout per week.
3. Food: Get those veggie servings back up to where they were!
4. Behavior: Start reducing sweets now that the automatic after-meal response is better.

As a family we've been watching "Pirate Master" and we are enjoying it, although it is VERY repetitive. It's funny because dh and ds both LOVE the current captain because he's such a cunning and competitive player. The girls and I all hate him because we see "cunning and competitive" as "total jerk!" Smiler

Dh, Rebekah and I have been watching Traveler....it is good, but I don't see how they can possibly go beyond one, MAYBE 2 seasons with it.

Dh Rebekah and I are anxiously awaiting the season premieres of Monk and Psych.

Other than those shows, the only other things that we watch on a regular basis are: "Take Home Chef", an occasional Ellie Krieger show, I Love Lucy reruns, and Boy Meets World and Duck Dodgers reruns Smiler

Blessings,

Lori

I've become really into Shaq's Big Challenge. It's filmed and presented more as a documentary than a "reality show," and watching Shaq take on The Man has been (so far) really enjoyable...and I find myself really, really rooting for the kids.

Challenge Goals:
*10 minutes of unplanned exercise five times a week
*Gym time twice a week
*Socialize at least once every two weeks.

We watched "Wild Hogs" in our room one night and it was really funny.

It is something I would never have watched but a guy I have taked to on Yahoo Messenger mentioned it and it was available so we watched it.

TV options here are the pits. No Food Network, no HGTV, no Travel Channel Frowner

Just watched "Music & Lyrics" on DVD rental. It's cheesy but I liked it quite a lot.

An Ugly Betty was on last night that I hadn't seen before. I do love that show. Not something I usually say about network TV.

Just finished watching Flicka. Be sure you have tissues handy Wink.

It stars Alison Lohman, Maria Bello and Tim McGraw and is a very good movie, especially if you like horses.

I think that this movie is less partisan than any of his other movies. The Democrats don't have a good record on this issue either. Both sides of the aisle have gotten a lot of campaign cash from the insurance companies, so change on this issue will be pretty difficult.

We went to see Live Free or Die Hard. I just love Bruce Willis. This movie certainly isn't an Oscar contender, but if you like the Die Hard series - it's exactly what you would expect and want from the movie.

Well, unless it's on DVD I don't get to see it and even then, I often take them back to the library unseen.

I did manage to see 3 last week. The Queen dh watched with me. Happy Feet no one else wanted to admit it was even in the house. The third was Blood Diamon. I had had it at least two times before without seeing it. Because of a forgetful husband, I ended up having to pay a fine for it and therefore I saw it. I'll be darned if I pay for a movie without seeing it.

I watched (sniff, sniff) the last Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip last Thursday, but now need to go online to see the previous two shows I didn't get to watch.

I have gotten suckered into The Next Best Thing To on ABC in which a panel of impressionist/comedians are trying to find a good impressionist. I don't always agree with the assessment, but I guess this is what you American Idol watchers go through.

I don't believe I'm watching (usually on tape) a reality show.

Next week ds will be gone off for a 3-week college experience. I hope to sneak out and see Sicko then. Since Bowling for Columbine, dh is anti-Moore. I'm with him all the way - especially for this subject.

I saw Michael Moore's "Sicko" last night. It had a different feel than his other films -- less over-the-top, more heartbreaking (even than "Bowling for Columbine.") It did have its funny moments, but it was mostly a call to action. It does a good job of proving that the healthcare system in this country is in desperate need of reform.

I recently saw Stranger Than Fiction and it was great. Very funny and several twists to it. Big Grin

Last weekend we watched a really old Peter O'Toole movie called High Spirits and laughed all the way thru it. (got it from Netflix).

Oh, and went to the theatre and saw the third Pirates movie Big Grin.

Sheri - I think you'll really like Song and Lyrics. It's very cute and funny and the throw back stuff from the 80s is just hysterical. Fairly predictable romantic comedy but great fun.
