Sunday I did the Ann Arbor Triathlon, and it was my first "no big deal" tri -- I didn't tell a lot of people about it before or after I did it, didn't think a lot about it beforehand, just went and did it. I was trained for it, though not as well as I could have been.
I never expected something that took 2:15 of solid activity to be a sort of commonplace thing for me. I was only a little bit sore the next day. This race was sort of a trial run for a bigger one I'm doing in Chicago.
I was still pretty excited at the finish, and afterward. I definitely know what I need to work on for the next race. I need to bike more, keep up with my swimming and running, and work on my transitions. Getting into the weight room regularly will also help.

grrlscout, these are not ironman races. I haven't gotten to that level yet, may not ever, but I'd like to. The race this weekend was 1/2 mile swim, 14 mi bike, 5 mi run.
P.S. congrats on the soccer moment. Weight training is the best. Strong girls rule!

I've done a marathon (though slow as all heck), and sometimes I think about tri's. But I think at best, I'd maybe do a "tin man." That would involve me borrowing a road bike though.
Anyhoo, I had one of those, "hey, cool," moments on Sunday. Had my first soccer game in a couple of months. I did a throw-in, and the ball totally flew. I guess all those lat pulldowns had some unexpected benefits!

wow!! that is a great thing you did! Even if you felt it was routine...but isn't it wonderful to think of something so active as routine as say....vegging in front of the TV??
