I was wanting to make the PB Truffles out of the new KD Book. But I am having to justify to myself if I would use Wheat germ again. I couldn't find a small container of it and if I don't like the truffles what will I do with the rest. I weigh the pros and cons on something new I purchase or whant to try. So does anyone have anyother ideas for wheat germ or what else can I use to make the truffles with. I have never used wheat germ before and have no idea what I would use it for.
I got it in bulk at the grocery store and it was cheaper too The first time I made the truffles I only bought a small amount....now I've had to up the amount since I make them almost once a week!

I bought a huge jar of wheat germ and thought "Oh I'll never use this." but I use anywhere from a teaspoon to a tablespoon on my cereal several days a week and I just noticed this morning that my jar is almost empty so it's time to buy another!

Mmmm, Mary Jo I have done that trick as well - where did we see that recipe? I think I found it in the Stoneyfield Yogurt cookbook, that's it. They featured a recipe of mine on their website recently
I love wheatgerm with fruit and yogurt, and lately I have been adding it to my granola recipe. At first I added just a half cup to see if it would throw off the dry/wet ratio, and it didn't. In KD's granola recipe (which I have doctored to my taste), you don't taste the wheatgerm, but you do get the benefits.
Also, wheatgerm keeps in the fridge forever, so it won't go to waste! Add it to oatmeal too!

Listen to me.......buy the honey flavored wheat germ. If you don't like the truffles, you can use it to coat chicken strips and bake for some very yummy crispy chicken strips. My kids are die hard chicken strip lovers, so it was a big chance I took when I made them.
They were a big hit and now I make them all the time. Much better for you then bread crumbs!!!!!
