We got a call today that my MIL is in the hospital. My BIL found her on the floor this morning. She has infection in bladder & one lung and her brain tumor has swollen (I don't remember ever being told she had a tumor). She is being transfered to Emory Hosp. in Atlanta sometime tonight. Neice says she will keep me posted.

As I posted in the Memorial Day plans thread. We did get to go up and see her in Rome Sunday. She was sitting up in a wheelchair in the hall outside her room. We had a good visit. She can put together whole sentences now but she still frequently can not think of the word she wants to use or maybe she knows it but just is not able to articulate it. I don't know if she remembers us being there or not. My bil called Sunday evening and asked if we had been to see her on Sat.& I told him no we had been up there that day around 3pm. Apparently he had just visited or was there at the time he called. I asked "Didn't she tell you we were there? and ne said no. Now I am wondering if he asked her about us visiting and she said we had not been there. I did not think of that while he was on the phone.

Update: Grandma has improved enough that she had been moved to a rehab facility in Rome, Ga. I have not visited there yet as it is an hour to an an hour and a half away. They tell me she is speaking better but I don't think she uses the phone yet. She broke her ankle and dislocated her foot when she fell and had to have surgery on it. I don't know when I will get up there to see her. It is too far for me to drive alone and I don't like to ride with my mother (her driving scares the daylights out of me most of the time) and Dena has prior obligations on the weekends until the middle of June.

Thanks for updating us. I'm sorry the news isn't better, but awareness after a stroke is still a positive sign. I'll keep praying for you and your family.
The MRI shows she had what the doctors are referring to as a "significant stroke". She has some weakness on one side and still can't speak. She is does recognize everyone and is knowageable about what is going on. She can answer questions by shaking her head yes or no. The future will have to wait on further evaluations.
